Don't know if anyone has noticed that the quantity of Indomie Noodles have been drastically reduced though the weight written on the pack is still the same. You can hardly get full on a pack which previously wasn't like that. I think De-United Ltd are taking their customers for fools. Cos u pay the same amount of but get less than what you are paying for Guys what do you think? |

I didn't notice that, but I guess it makes sense: the only way to keep the price stable of a food product over several years in the face of double-digit inflation is to reduce the quantity of the product from time to time. |

That's what is called average cost pricing in economics. When cost of production increases, the producer does not react by increasing the unit price of the commodity. Instead he tacitly decreases the size of the commodity leavin the price constant. Any attempt to increase price will trigger off a "price war". Remeber chikki and O are new entrants into the noodles market where indomie used to be the only player. On the other hand, when production costs drop, the producer still doesn't reduce the unit price of the commodity. Instead he compensates by increasing the size/volume. fro example larger bars of chocolates, on juice cans u see 100% extra free or 100grms extra on milk tins like cowbell chocolate did recently. U can't blame Indomie, with PHCN's inefficiency, bad roads, high cost of communication, insecurity and corruption, the cost of doing business in Nigeria ranks among the highest in the world. Any attempt to increase their unit price will see Chikki and O clinching a sizeable proportion of the market. This explains the decrease in the size of indomie U see, economics has an answer to everything! |

Those who consume Indomie should check if it has MSG, because that itself is a health hazard. |

sue them for fraud lol they can't reduce the content and keep the weigh on the packet the same. or write them to change it. |
Re: The Quantity Of Indomie Noodles by Seun(m): 8:40am On Mar 25, 2007 |
WesleyanA: nobody checks the weight on the packet. Nigerian cooks are mathematically challenged. If you ask a cook "how many minutes should I cook this for" her response will be "for a short time" or something. 1 Like |

I stopped buying indomie longtime ago,in Uyo where I live, it is 40 naira from 30 naira and the quantity is smaller than before so I decided, one packet of chikki noodles is equivalent to two packets of indomie. |

IS it only indomie, what about sachet milk, for instance 1 dano 25grms milk b4 is N20, now its 20grms 2 peak milk 25grms b4 is N25, now the same goes for N30 for the tin milks havent you noticed it now watery? I wonder where we are going in this country. My dad once told me that Tai Sholaring sued Lever Bros (unilever) for Lipton tea bags. On the grounds that lipton tea bag in the Uk when when comprd wit Lipton Nig, is of lower QTY and only colours the water a little (I beg remind me of a better english to use for colour) |

whether it's called average cost bla bla bla in econs or cost reduction bla bla bla in accounting, it remains obvious that consumers are being cheated upon. What's the consumer rights for? |
