Since the advent of smartphones in the technology industry, processors have been a stronghold and a determinant factor in quality assurance. The efficiency of a smartphone is dependent on the type and performance of the processor. Every function of a smartphone is embedded in this tiny chip. It also determines how long the battery will last. In short, it determines how long your device will last without an external damage.

Many technological giants provided phone manufacturers with seamless opportunities to explore their range of processors. The most prominent of all is MediaTek, makers of MTK processors. They produce varying range of processors, from high-end to low-end processors. At first, I use to think Mediatek was responsible for the increase in the number of substandard products flooding the market. I was wrong, in fact, every mediatek processor has the specs of hardware that must be mounted on it, from cameras, graphics, displays etc. Smartphone manufacturers, our government and consumers are to be blamed for this.

There are hybrids of reasons why your phone performance/camera will deteriorate over time, could be poor handling, dirts, physical damage etc. But in most cases, this is caused by overloaded processors. This trend is common with smartphone manufacturers using the MTK processors. They abuse the chips due to it's flexibility. Something that can't be done on snapdragon and Intel.

In other to make more profit and reduce production cost, these brands mount a superior/inferior hardware on an inferior chip. e.g. I have seen devices with 5MP front and 8MP rear on processor that only supports 8MP and 1.3 rear, same goes with displays and graphics. These does not only overwork the processors, it makes the chip emmit more heat, draw more power from the battery and destroys the battery faster. Have you ever wondered why their so called 6050mAh battery deteriorates over time? Why your battery won't reach 100% after some time? Why your touchscreen fails at times? why you can no longer run an app/game you've been running on the same device before? The reason isn't far fetched.

The T's, G's and other substandard products manufacturers are not honest with Africans. Until then, ASUS is my brand cheesy
