I was not around but was represented by a group of volunteers and here is was I am able to deduce from what they reported me:-

1. For the unpaid, they are to go to their respective financial institutions to get their Financial info I.e BVN printout.

2. The Verified but Blank. Unverified. Category one were advised to humble themselves and accept that they were not verified however, info will be given as regards reverification though that will be done internally in three weeks time.

3. For those who were disqualified due to discrepancies in age, a discretionary approval will be made PROVIDED they can prove that they were born 1981 and above or those who filled in 1985 while the docs presented; indicated 1986.
These category of individuals can only be helped if their age declaration or any other documents is not later than December 2016

4. Wrong spelling of names or the married women who registered with maiden names: Get your documents , scan them and send to the dedicated email help lines stating your requests.

5. Wrong spelling of names or the married women who registered with maiden names: Get your documents , scan them and send to the dedicated email help lines stating your requests.

6. Some people didnt get paid due to fraudulent activities of individuals. A case was noted where a cafe operator tried circumventing the stipends of 8 volunteers. I can't say if he succeeded. This is a note of warning to our lazy volunteers that sit at home and send their friends etc sensitive info to operate for them. The internet is for everyone to explore.

SSA, Mr Afolabi said he has been in Lagos state since on Sunday, and this is the third state he's visiting. He boasted about fulfilling the promise of employing 5000 unemployed youths . He said he was dissapointed by Lagos state government for late verification in which the commissioner gave excuse for which is base on logistic. He said this program will only recognize those that added value and impacted. If your ppa complain about you, your salary with be reduced and when it get to the third time, you will be disqualified. He said it is the job of focal person to deploy and not Fed govt. He also said since we didn't work in December and January, we won't be paid but the HON. BOLA stood up immediately and defended our interest by saying the program was scheduled for 24months and we must get our 24months stipends which SSA didn't oppose but rather bursted into laughter. After which Npower volunteers were given chance to ask questions. Questions were raised concerning hacked acct, disqualified candidates. And lastly, some of us wrote questions on paper for them concerning permanent job or what's our faith after two years but he said he will respond to that in our next meeting with him that they are still working on it. Focal person pleaded us to stop protesting that she knows nothing about how they are paying us. She not in charge of our money and SSA also said the same thing to support her. *copied*

*FULL REPORT ON THE MEETING BETWEEN N-POWER BENEFICIARIES WITH THE MONITORING TEAM HELD AT THE T-BLOCK, LAGOS STATE SECRETARIAT, ALAUSA, IKEJA.*

To start with, the interactive session commenced around 10:20AM with various dignitaries present, among the distinguished individuals were Mr. Afolabi Imoukhuede; SSA to the President on Job Creation and Youth Employment, State's Commissioner of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation [(WAPA); Mrs. Lola Akande, Chairman NOA Lagos; Mr. Wahab, , Honourable member of the Lagos State House of Assembly and the State's Focal Person, Mrs. Olushola Falana and others.

OPENING SPEECH: The Lagos State's Commissioner of Women Affairs & Poverty Alleviation opened the meeting with a welcome address on behalf of the Lagos state Governor, His Excellency Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode.

MATTER ARISING: The eloquent and ever-prepared SSA to the President took up the microphone to address the beneficiaries on the General Overview of what Npower is all about. He went on by expressing dissatisfaction over the late commencement of the program in Lagos State that was characterised by several flaws from the Lagos State Government.
In his words; "Lagos state is known as the *Centre of Excellence*, but regarding N-Power Program, it has been somehow and I ask for more improvement as the program progresses."

DECEMBER & JANUARY STIPENDS : Mr. Afolabi did not mince words by categorically saying beneficiaries in the state will not receive December and January stipends due to late verification exercise. He emphatically said that the volunteers didn't work for those months and that payment start from the time we concluded our verification and the reports were sent to them which was February.

RESPONSE: Mrs. Lola Akande stood up and strongly condemn what Mr. Afolabi had said regarding Dec and Jan stipends, she however pleaded on behalf of the beneficiaries for FG to look into it.
A Distinguished Honourable Member of Lagos state House of Assembly representing the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Obasa also supported her by saying the funds had been made available and that it is a two years program. He later told Mr. Afolabi to ensure all Lagos State volunteers are paid all the 24 months.

ISSUES BEDEVILING NPOWER BENEFICIARIES.

At this point, Mr. Afolabi took the microphone to address all the issues facing beneficiaries. He said bulk of those issues were caused by beneficiaries themselves as follows:

UNPAID BENEFICIARIES: Mr. Afolabi didn't mince words by saying the reason 98.9% of beneficiaries who were not paid was caused by them, he said many of the beneficiaries registered for the program in cyber cafes thereby making some of their details public to the cafe computer operators and hackers. He gave the break down of some the figures I.e 8,000+ was verified and 7,000+ was qualified while abt 6,000+ Qualified for payment and 200+ was disqualified due to age and the documents provided for verification do not match with what they inputted on the online form.

He said out of 2540 that had issues of payment, 889 had no record of account with then at all, this means some of them didn't update their account while some used someone else's account to cover up for the program.

He also said some inputted wrong BVN, he said a lot of them form the 11 digit of BVN Hoping they can outsmart the government. He also emphasized on married women that inputted account number which doesn't belong to them.

BENEFICIARIES WITH BLANK SPACE: He vehemently said that they didn't show up for verification, that was why they have blank space. He said majority were trying to play games with the FG claiming not to have been paid or posted. He then concluded that discretionary provisions will be made for re-verification for those who missed the verification an those who has blank verification result issues and will be absorbed alongside with those who will be processed for redeployment during the process of redeployment for those that were deployed outside their residential states or LGS.

Mr. Afolabi also said the unpaid beneficiaries can correct their details in two ways
a. Through the two site support@npvn.ng and support@npvn.desk-mail.com or
b. Through the focal person manually.

He also addressed the issue of arrangement of names, he said the npvn name must correspond with the BVN name, he however said he gave directives to NIBSS that if two names of the beneficiaries matches, they can go ahead and pay such his/her stipends. So he later ask beneficiaries involved with invalid BVN to go to their bank and make necessary correction and for the married women to get a copy of their change of name as well as their BVN printout and attach it or upload it in the mail where applicable before sending their complaints to the help desk.

BENEFICIARIES WITH AGE AND ADDRESS ISSUES.

He also said most of them caused this problem, he said the age requirement for this program is between 18-35yrs, anything short of that amount to disqualification. He also said if beneficiaries wrongly inputted an address that doesn't correspond with their residential address, such is disqualified.

The meeting came to an end with a closing remark from the Focal Person and Lagos State Npower Leader, Mr. Felix Ayorinde.

OUTCOME OF TODAY'S INTERACTIVE SESSION WITH THE N-POWER MONITORING TEAM.(20th April 2017)

The interactive session between N-power monitoring team led by SSA to the president federal republic of Nigeria Mr.Afolabi Imoukhede started exactly 11:10am with the presence of many dignitaries such as:
1.The commissioner for women affair and poverty alleviation Lagos State.(Mrs Lola Akande)
2.The director National Orientation Agency NOA(Mr waheed Ishola).
3.Executive Secretary Lagos State universal basic education board SUBEB(Mrs.Abosede Adelaja)
4.Permanent Secretary Local government service commission(Mrs Ogunmola Omobolanle)
5.Permanent Secretary Ministry of women affairs and poverty alleviation(Mrs Abiola Adetutu Liadi).
6.Lagos State N-power focal person(Mrs.Falane Olusola)
And other state institutional partners.
The commissioner for women affairs and poverty alleviation Lagos state,Mrs Lola Akande started with the opening speech. She said it is a great pleasure and honour to welcome the SSA to the president Mr.Afolabi Imoukhede to our great state and later explained the full support lagos state has for N-power program.
After her speech,Mr.Afolabi Imoukhede collected the mic and firstly express his disappointment in lagos state being the last state in federal republic of Nigeria to conduct verification exercise for N-power volunteers in the state. He later proceeded to explain what N-power is all about and assured to entertain questions from the volunteers.
Lo and behold, many questions were raised.

*pertaining to the unpaid volunteers,Mr.Afolabi said it has been confirmed that most of the unpaid volunteers had issues of unmatched name and he advised those affected to go to their banks and get the print out of their BVN in other to know how their name stands. He therefore said they can now contact the N-power support team through support@npvn.ng or support@npvn.desk-mail.com for the correction of their portal name in matched with their bvn name.He said with this, payment is 100% sure.

For those that were disqualified during the verification process due to age discrepancies or residential address,Mr.Afolabi said a discretionary approval will be made provided that those affected can prove that they are not older than the age limit federal government really wanted.

Concerning the married that used their maiden name when registering,he said the best option for them is to get all documents that can back the changes of their name, scan and send to the email above with short explanation on problem to be solved.

*For those that were verified but had blank status,He advised them to co-operate and plead with the director National Orientation Agency to organize internally re-verification exercise for them.

*Pertaining to December and January stipend,Mr.Afolabi said we are not entitled to the payment because we didn't work for it but with the intervention of some dignitaries on the high table,he later agreed to discuss with the vice president to consider us for the payment.

*Pertaining to what they have for us after the two year program,Mr.Afolabi said he wont like to say anything on that for now but as I am seeing it,I think federal government has plan for us after the two years program but it will be too early for him to talk on it.

Finally,he said the federal government wont tolerate any act of indiscipline by the volunteers and also stated that federal government wont hesitate to stop the stipend of any volunteers caught with uncallful attitude and therefore advised us to take the program very serious and be respectful in any PPA we found ourselves.

Here are the 12 Factors that are responsible for delay in Npower December Salary

(1) Late update of applicants’ profile

Last year after Npower created a platform exclusively for those that made the first batch list of 200,000 successful applicants.

The platform was dubbed Npower Volunteers Network, NPVN.

Subsequently, applicants were directed to update their profile, including their account details.

While some successful applicants got the information on time, some others got it late.

If you are among those who updated your bank account details late December, or after Npower Team has collated bank account details of applicants, then you might experience late in payment or your December salary might be delayed.

(2) Conflict in applicant’s BVN and his account name

In a situation whereby you use your personal name, then use your husband’s account number and his BVN you will definitely experience delay. And if you didn’t make move to rectify the problem, you might not be paid.

The essence of BVN is to discover disparity in account number or similarities in fingerprint in cases of multiple accounts.

In a situation whereby you use Adek Musi during Npower application process, then you have Ghus Agbe as bank account details in your NPVN bank account details, then your payment will be withheld.

(3) Civil servant who applied for Npower

Reliable information at our disposal says some local government officials applied for npower and they made the first batch list.

These people already have BVN in place forgetting that Npower has been designed in alliance with BVN in such a way to detect those who are already in Federal, State, or Local Government payroll.

So if you fall under this category, you may have to forget your payment, unless you have other “dubious” means of manipulating the system.

(4) Failure to verify

Updating of your NPVN portal isn’t just the parameter for payment. You must also have been verified. If you didn’t participate in the verification exercise, but updated your bank account details on NPVN portal, you might not be paid.

The essence of the Npower verification was to cut, or reduce ghost-workers, which is one of the problems of government’s jobs.

State focal officer are in charge of collating names of verified applicants and forwarding such to Abuja for onward payment.

In a situation whereby you’re not verified, and your account is updated, you will not be paid.

(5) Did verification, but failed to update NPVN portal

Another obvious reason why you’re still not paid is your failure, after verification, to update your NPVN account details.

NPower team can’t pay into non-existing account. Verification isn’t enough for you to be paid, your account must have been correctly updated.

(6) Wrong BVN

If your BVN is not correct, you won’t be paid, or your payment might be delayed unless it’s corrected.

For now, you can’t edit your profile because the edit button has been removed temporarily for security reasons.

(7) Wrong account number

Even if your BVN does exist, but your account number isn’t correct you might experience delay in Npower payment until that discrepancy is resolved.

(cool Delay from your banks

A research carried out by our team shows that some banks are still withholding Npower payment.

Some of these banks include, but not limited to, First Bank, EcoBank, UBA, and Unity Bank.

We can’t reliably say what is holding the concerned banks from disbursing the money to those it’s meant.

For instance, none of the Npower applicants in Ipetu-Ijesa, Oriade LGA, have been paid at the time of putting this research work together.

Most of the affected applicants use First Bank because it’s the only bank in that town.

(9) Failure to follow npower instructions

Details involved in updating NPVN profile contain sensitive information. It’s advisable for successful applicants to personally update their NPVN portal, but some disobeyed the instruction.

They gave their details out to cyber café attendants to do it on their behalf. In the process, when mistakes were not made in BVN, they were made in account number.

At the end they complain they are not paid. But some of them later confessed that someone else handled the entire process on their behalf.

It was December salary, which was never expected by more than 50% of applicants, which made applicants to take the programme seriously.

(10) Late verification and deployment

Media aid to the acting president, Mr. Laolu Akande, emphatically says those who were verified and deployed by December would receive December salary.

State like Lagos had delay in verification. While some states had completed verification, deployment, and got their December stipend, applicants from Lagos state knew nothing about when and where the verification would hold.

Verification was carried out in Lagos State towards the end of January, 2017.

If the clarification made by Laolu Akande is implemented, Lagos Npower applicants might not be paid for December salary unless there is high power delegation from Lagos State Government to plead on behalf of the applicants since it wasn’t the applicants fault.

(11) Multiple NPVN accounts

Don’t be surprised. Some had their names shortlisted twice, but were detected during payment. Similarity in BVN, or conflict in accounts number/BVN is also one of the reasons why you’re yet to be paid.

(12) Late submission of verified list by Focal Officer in your state

Another likely reason why your npower salary could be pending is the failure of your state focal officer to forward the verified list to Abuja for onward processing of your stipend by the Finance Unit of the programme.

Whatever the reasons are, there will always be solution to any issue. For now, the applicant support number of npower is ineffective, no one can specifically explain why such a huge project like Npower cannot have phone numbers in place for applicants to verbally express their concerns.

Autosbay, wasn't anything said about those who were deployed to a far place from their residence? I couldn't attend due to very urgent situation.
I was posted to an extremely local govt lcda. Infact, i decided to go there and i ended up spending #700 to-and-fro on that day.
I have also spoken to a number of people who have been posted to a far place from their residence here in Ikorodu and we all don't know what to do.
I have sent countless mails to support@npvn.desk-mail.com but not reply or feed back from them.
Autosbay, please how can we get in touch with the focal person or the person in charge of posting. Or if you can help us convey our grieviances to her. We would really really be grateful.
God bless.

Go to the same place you received the posting letter. You will be reposted close to your residence in the same local government on your NPVN portal. I've seen about 2 to 3 people who have been reposted.

Why can't they let ppl update their accounts on npvn themselves instead of sending a mail to n-power?

Why didn't npower let married women know that they would HV to use their maiden name to apply for npower cos def their will be discrepancy in bank account name I opened when single and after marriage will I still use the same name haba. I feel their shld HV been a special
Way in resolving theirs and now ppl HV changed it at the bank but now npvn still shows maiden name? Can't they allow them change the account name on npvn portal since it has now been done at the bank? Infact miraculously date of birth changed itself. But its easy to blame the volunteers.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION TO ALL VERIFIED UNPAID BENEFICIARIES.
In furtherance to the interactive session held on Thursday 20th April 2017 on issues facing npower beneficiaries especially the unpaid ones: We want to inform the unpaid beneficiaries that form has been made available for manual correction of their data. Therefore, as we await final approval from the focal person on Monday, we want to urge all involved to go to their respective banks and do the following:
1. Collect a print out of their BVN data.
2. Correct any mistakes on their BVN data if any.
This will help to hasten the process. Also remember, failure to do so means; you will not collect your stipend for the month of April.
We also want to use this medium to announce to all N-community that they have been merged with N-teach. So please expect your list to come among those posted to the district as confirmed by the focal person.

At the bold words, please replace US Embassy with Npower as see how it sounds. Moreover, AutosBay and many other have posted severally here that once you have effect the necessary changes on your Bank and BVN details send mail in a PRESCRIBED FORMAT to a mail attaching all supporting documents, most especially when it concerns change of name.

Why blaming NPOWER for a cause they have no hands in? I have many married couples who registered with their current (husband's) surname that were paid with those who received the first payment in their various states. Many volunteers that are yet to be paid have issues that emanated from them or the bank.

I have married women whose identity card bear their maiden name that are verified and paid with the first set of people that were paid in their various states. No issues no delay. They, at the point of verification provided their marriage certificates to Npower, apply for change of account name and BVN details at their various branches on my advise. Today, they are glad enjoying the little stipend paid.

Saying Npower should have informed this set of people who are graduates with expectations of some level of exposure is.... If we are talking about O level certificate holders here, I may agree with you but not graduates who have pass through HIGHER educational system.

Sorry if my post sounds offensive but that is the fact, most of the complains we have on this programme were as a result of mistakes, negligence and I-don't-care attitudes of volunteers. As it is now, many paid volunteers are yet to upload and select their device. Just on Thursday, I decided to check for all those I helped, I was surprised that many are yet to upload their documents and select their devices. I have selected devices for those who gave me go ahead but as this morning they are yet to send/upload their documents on the portal despite my sent text messages and follow up calls.
