The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has expelled a young man from its orientation camp in Nasarawa State for presenting a fake call up letter.

Mrs Habiba Bappah, NYSC Coordinator in Nasarawa State, disclosed this in an interview with newsmen at the Orientation Camp in Dan Yamusa.

Bappah also told newsmen shortly after a brief swearing-in ceremony for 2016 Batch B corps members that the suspect had been handed over to the police.

She said that the man, who posed as a prospective corps member, arrived at the camp on Thursday with a fake call-up letter which was not found on the NYSC system.

“He came with a fake up call up letter and he has been handed over to the police.

“The good thing is that we have a bio-metric system of registration. By the time he thumb-printed and we checked, he had no data,” she said.

According to her, the bio-metric system of registration has helped in exposing many frauds.

Your bio-metrics has to match your fingerprints. Unfortunately some gave other people the go ahead to register for them.

“If their fingerprints do not match, they will be sent out. Three persons also fall into this category,” she said.

Bappah said that 2,057 corps members were sworn in for the 2016 Batch B orientation exercise in the state, adding that the exercise had gone on without any significant hitch.

“Out of the 2057 corps members, 914 are females while 1143 are males. They have all settled down and eager to start camping activities,” she said.

She urged the corps members to be law abiding and participate in all lectures and skills acquisition training programmes which would be very beneficial to them after their service year.

DSP Idrisu Kennedy, Nasarawa State Police Command Public Relations Officer, confirmed the arrest of the man with the fake call up letter.

He told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that investigations were ongoing on the matter.

“I can confirm to you that the young man is in our custody and investigations has commenced to know how he came about the call up letter,” he said. (NAN)

grin grin grin, that is recession for you. Is better to be managing your life with 19800 than to be out of job virtually with no source of income.
