An Osun state High Court has sentenced a 35-year- old artisan, Kayode Idowu to death by hanging for armed theft and homicide. Each day Submit reviews that Idowu and his companion, Femi Adebowale, had been arraigned by the police earlier than the courtroom on three counts of conspiracy, homicide and armed theft.

Idowu, was said to have broken into the apartments of one Mrs. Rachel Aina Ogbomoniyi and Florence Ajayi at about 1am on August three, 2009 and found N200 from Aina’s room. The accused and his partner, Adebowale had been mentioned to have stolen the N200 and headed to a different room where they discovered Ajayi and eventually killed her.

According to accounts by the persecuting counsel, Mr. Moses Faremi, the convict and the second accused one that later died in the course of the trial, forcefully entered the home of deceased within the mid-night they usually had been requested for the cash and deceased advised them she didn’t have cash after they left, the deceased was later present in a pool of blood.

The counsel mentioned the offence had been opposite to sections (1) (2) (9) and 319 of the criminal Code Cap. 34 Volume 2 Legal guidelines of Osun State of Nigeria 2002.The state’s witness, who was also robbed by the lads advised the courtroom she was able to recognize the lads when asked to come and identify the them at the police station.

Nevertheless, counsel for the convicts, Sade Ipede, of the Legal Support Council, pleaded with the Judge to temper justice with mercy. However Justice Kudrat Akano said the prosecuting counsel had proved his case beyond reasonable doubt and subsequent sentenced him to death by hanging.

In a related development, a Girl has narrated how she was practically raped after an encounter with armed robbers on her way to work. According to the lady, she had taken a bus hoping to get to the point where she joins her colleague for a ride to the office, but her experience has left her in jitters.

The girl who prefers to be anonymous, said she wasn’t afraid when she boarded the bus, because she had seen somebody dressed in the Nigerian army uniform, whom she thought was a real soldier.
