14 people have been confirmed dead after a tanker explosion in Tegina town, Rafi local government area of Niger state on Friday.

According to report the Tanker was transporting fuel from Lagos to Kaduna state when the incident happened.

The driver lost control of the tanker and ran into a residential building causing a fire outbreak.

The inferno killed those trapped in the building and some of those selling along the road.

Residents of Tegina town ran helter skelter to quench the inferno.

Properties worth millions were destroyed including three buildings and vehicles.

Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bala Elkana, when contacted, confirmed the story, saying the deceased were given mass burial in the town because they were burnt beyond recognition.
