urban planning have demarcated the flood plains before allocating the land. flooding is not experienced there and the fertile flood plains used for vegetable farming year round.

Your post is not about the forest.... it the usual boasting that comes with some ibos...

You should have emphasized about the lost forest and not buildings... other states have that also in their own measures..

Empty barrel make the most noise..
The owner of this structures are level headed individuals but you who dont own any is trying to start a tribal war ..

Cant we just give peace a chance.

u can also say that 80% of dilapidated structures in afonja regions, villages etc are owned by the likes of u on nairaland hustling instead of hustling in real life.

Op most of your threads celebrate wealth without talking of how this wealth was made --Legitimate or illegitimate.
It's good to celebrate successes but please try to do a little check on the source of the wealth.
Nobody question Dangote's source of income, OBJ, buhari etc. But when it comes to Onitsha traders you start insinuation bad belle

Only in Igbo land they print houses, come to Abeokuta and all you see is shanty, rickety houses littered in a state capital! What a shame! After afonjas will be boasting with Lagos when ABK stinks to high heavens!

No landscaping. No planning.Just haphazard buildings everywhere.By the time the rains come with fury,we will start hearing about houses swept into the river and estates flooded.

They will not tell us how these sick people destroyed the natural ecosystem without giving thoughts to natural pathways
Re: See What Traders Are Doing With Former Akpaka Forest Reserve Onitsha by Cargoed: 6:51pm On Dec 05, 2016
That is supposed to be the major oxygen supply to Onitsha densly populated city. For a govt to do such shows a very short sightedness and selfish attidude.

These are the kind of things that reduces life expectancy in such cities. As a matter of urgency they should pass a law that each compound must house at least 3forest trees and building must not be to densly closed together and not more than 2stories.

Also these places are at a high risk of mud slides. the views to Nnusugbe and 33 are breath taken.

If it's by the bank of River Niger, then it's flood prone. I haven't forgotten the 2012 incident that took over almost the whole of Ogbaru and most of Anambra West with parts of Anambra East LGAs.
Were there people living at this forest reserve by 2012? So how are you sure the place wasn't flooded then?

Don't tell me my home town (otu okwoodu). Now I confirm what is happening here in nairaland. People shook mouth in what they don't know.
The forest reserve is now abode for kings. Not meant for the poor.
Ogbaru is so many km away from onitsha and ogbaru is riverine area. Onitsha is damn high on the sea level. If it floods in onitsha then be rest assured that the whole of Lagos is already submerged in water. Then you can see that the whole Lagos cannot be submerged so is no one part of Onicha ado n'idu can flood. Ife eji Abu Onicha Erika.

I will advice you from today do not be quick to comment on issue you read somewhere or heard someone say. It will help your integrity.
The advice is free.
