As we come near the end of the year, one billion active WhatsApp users should better check that they will have the ability to run the messaging application on their iPhone, Android, and Windows Phone systems.

In a blog post earlier this year, WhatsApp revealed that, by the end of 2016, the messenger app will not be supported on the following platforms:

* Nokia S40

* Nokia Symbian S60

* Windows Phone 7

* BlackBerry OS and BlackBerry 10

* Android 2.1 and Android 2.2

* iPhone 3GS/iOS 6


WhatsApp Messenger announced the platforms would be dropped as:

they do not provide the type of capabilities we need to increase our app's functions in the future.

So what can you do to stop this from taking place?

If you are one of those still using these affected mobile phones, we advise upgrading to a more recent Android, iPhone, or Windows Phone prior to completion of 2016 to continue making use of WhatsApp.

You can either upgrade or buy a new mobile phone.
So, for all those people still utilizing old 'vintage' Nokia phones: you may want to buy either Tecno or Infinix phone.
Alternatively, see if Nitel or fax are coming back again.
