*Some schools in Kolkata India sent this letter to the parents a few weeks before the exams..*

Dear Parents,

The exams of your children are to start soon. I know you are all really anxious for your child to do well.

But, please do remember, amongst the students, who will be sitting for the exams, there is an artist, who doesn't need to understand Maths.

There is an entrepreneur, who doesn't care about History or English literature.

There's a musician, whose Chemistry marks won't matter.

There's a sportsperson, whose physical fitness is more important than Physics..

If your child does get top marks, that's great! But, if he or she doesn't, please don't take away their self-confidence and dignity from them.

Tell them it's OK, it's just an exam! They are cut out for much bigger things in life.

Tell them, no matter what they score, you love them and will not judge them.

Please do this, and when you do, watch your children conquer the world. One exam or a low mark won't take away their dreams and talent.

And please, do not think that doctors and engineers are the only happy people in the world.

With Warm Regards,
The Principal.

I'd rather they do the above without failing to demand and enforce discipline...else, they will just be encouraging mediocrity and stupidity which is the natural inclination of any child devoid of discipline!

There is nothing wrong in that question, in isolation....just the Nigerian parent way of telling you you can also do better!

Some parents can't hire private tutor for their children. They don't check their notes or ask about their schooling, they don't buy textbooks and some who did buy don't care if the child reads it. They'd allow their children watch movies even at around 11pm. Yet, after seeing their kids examination result..... They'd want him to perform well like the other child in their neighborhood.

I see children who take on the challenge and actually prove to their parents that "the person who takes first doesn't have two heads." Infact, in the colonial world, koboko settles it. That's why we still have Professors of that age very much relevant today; not the unserious, instagram afflicted bunch of profligates of our today's generation of youth!
