god of Men (To a Friend)


They visited our area in their regalia
And eased our tension like a Pilgrim from Russia.
They spoke potent words
Which sounded like an antidote to the recession sting.


"Give us a chance,
We shall change you in a glance,"
They had told us and we believed.
These same words left us bereaved.


We gave all we had to receive thirty percent,
We now anticipate help of no cent.
The Apostles preached the Gospel,
The converts were baptized at the 30% chapel.


Then came the Yuletide
Which ushered in a new tide.
We gave in our best bid expecting a better yield.
The news came and we all yelled.
The M's resounded in our ears,
Our voice echoed the letters into the air.
We saw our plans vanish into eternity,
Hoping our legal tender comes back to reality.


The god of men just struck,
The pandemic is spreading.
The victims are increasing.
To survive, we shall wait with hope,
Perhaps, January shall bring us Mavro bucks.
May God grant us 30% grace to cope.
