When news of the five-year old pregnant girl in the remote and sleepy hamlet of Kanke local government, Plateau State, grabbed the headlines, Nigerians were in shock and shouted hoax at the top of their voices. However, medical historians are not in anyway shocked. There are recorded cases of pre school and school age children between the ages of five to 10 years becoming mothers.

Most of the causes of early pregnancy is rape. Almost all the past reported cases were rape by father, uncles, stepfather, neighbours, brothers, cousins, boyfriends of older kids or child minders, forced prostitution etc.

It is dangerous to a female in this world...
