Snow fell for a full day in the Sahara desert (No need to clean your eyes, you read right) on the 19th of December, 2016. It was the second time ever such an incident would ever occur. The only previous time was on the 18th of February, 1979, when it snowed for about 30 minutes. The anomaly occurred in the near the small Algerian town of Ain Sefra. Photographer Karim Bouchetata took photos of the snow-covered red sands of the desert. Not an anomaly. Temperatures in Sahara desert can drop to below zero in the night. |
