Filtered waters, such as reverse osmosis and carbon filtered water, are increasingly used to avoid contaminants like pesticides, endocrine disruptors, and other pollutants that make their way into our water. But the focus on clean water has also turned to alkaline water. But is it really worth the hype?

What is Alkaline Water?

The term alkaline refers to the water’s pH level, or more specifically, how acidic or alkaline it is. The scale goes from zero to 14 and something with a pH of one is very acidic while something with a pH of 13 is very alkaline.


Alkaline water has a higher pH than regular water and, as a result, some advocates believe that it can neutralize acid in the body, and as a result, make it less prone to disease.
