Yuneehk:
Truly never judge a book by its cover. If you had waited for a better looking keke or a bit presentable driver, you might not have gotten that phone back.

Luck was also on your side because not everyone who misplaces something in a public transport gets it back. Anyone who sees that "something" will believe luck has shone on him/her and say it's God doing grin

such has happened to me from main gste.
just finished a boring class and was heading up town...zo i boarded a bus from main gate to ring road direct...luckily for me...i was the last to enter the front seat alone...so the moment i got inside..as usual i plugged in my earphones...but surprisingly benin drivers gbedu was louder and more vibrating than my fucking earpiece sound...so i decided to put a pause to the damn music i was pkaying..besides was already rumming low on batyery abt 22 percent..it was like a 30min bus..cause theyd stop..drop...pick.normal stuff unless maybe all of them are under a spell..
35mins later..this was about almost 6pm..i got close to aboe junction..then i yelled stop...earlier i had abt 200naira at my left jean pocket.so i paid my 200 and got 100 as balance..br ae got tonthe junc..i already had plugged in my earpiece..abt to hit the road..so i alighted from the bus..and it zoomed off.was abt to flag a bike down..when i noticed my back pocket was somewhat lighter than usual...lo and behold..i checked it was empty..i wan run .ad dah evening cause my last card wich i withdrew from the atm 10k.my schl id.atm csrd2..license...and some ballons all gone..
aaoooooowwww.
o looked saddened..confused..lost..

i said o fuc...im finished..where i was heading to was benoni at gra..and see where i am..who would help me..who d fuc would even listen to my story by after 6 in tbe evening..nawa o.
i fall my hand..i start2 blaming myself..infact anyone dat provoked me that evening ..would receive an instant shock coa i was ragged with anger..
while searching for the bus..my spirit spoke to me and said.
dis buy wey u enta so..the driver dey play one song wry he repeat from maingate to ring road...
zoooooommm.
the thing jus enta my head..i said yea yea i remember..
i think it was one akons song like dat.
omo naso i begin flood the whole of ring road for abt 6.3tpm..everywhere was rowdy..business goingon..i was almost giving up..i looked so depressed.
afta like 40seconds..suddenly i started to hear the same song again..getting a bit closer....this time very close..he was looking for passengers..shouting maingate maingte..
omo naso i do commando style..if u see the way i take cross road for oba market enta aboe street .omo nasp i go meet the driver..not sure..but explained dat i was in the front seat..and maybe he by mostakemistake saw any yellow mtn wallet..omo naso d guy smile say he be dey cal me whe i drop from d bus..but be like say d earpiece na im block my ear wen he wit condictor dey shout..i no hear.na im dem gas move since agbero full dia dey wa8 4who wan park for road..naso he gove me the wallet..i count am..e complete.al my id atm cards..every complete..instantly my sweats seized..
i offered him 1k..buh he declined it telling me that hes a good person..say na God just do am for me..i laughed over it and thanked him again..baba ai say ai gas enta one beer parlor cool down my brain with Goldberg ..b4 ai reach aous around 8pm....i jus dey suprised..say for benin city...a whole driver and conductor no take off afta dem see mai small tin.... i no believe am

Re: Igbo-smoking Keke Driver by Solowiz(m): 10:51am On Feb 04, 2017
Royver:
“Bros no vex…” He began.

“Where is your keke?” was the first question I asked as I made another quick look around at all the kekes in the vicinity. He smiled some more.

“I pass you, not up to ten minutes ago”, he replied. “I been dey wave but you dey check your time. I come meet you but be like say you dey vex as you see me, na him I waka go one side tell my oga make he come approach you.”

He was the first ‘tout’ to approach me! Why hadn’t I recognized him? Had I been so blinded by rage?

I listened in amazement as he told me his story. He had dropped me off at ogbogeonogo market and had immediately made a U-turn back towards Infant Jesus as that was his usual route, carrying passengers on the way. He had just dropped off the last person, a well-dressed female passenger, when he heard the phone ring. He turned around and saw it lying in the gap between the back seat and the metal frame of the keke; at the same time the woman stretched out and collected it. He became suspicious because where she sat was nowhere near where the phone was. He had grabbed her hand and asked her if the phone was hers to which she had replied an emphatic Yes. He asked her to prove it by opening the combination lock to the phone (I had put a combination lock to stop my kids playing with the games in the phone, not that it was helping, they had long since decoded it), she now said the phone belonged to her brother, that she was taking it back to him. It was while they were arguing that I had called the second time and when he told her to answer it she left the phone with him and walked away. That was when he picked the call and answered with his cool ‘Yes?’ He had picked up some passengers on the way back which was what had caused the delay.

I listened to his animated speech with great fascination. Here was a guy that looked like he would steal the clothes off your back if he had the chance and he had gone to all this trouble to return my phone. Sure he might have returned it hoping for a prize but then again he could have simply thrown away my Sim and memory card, flashed the phone and sold it for a very good price. I looked at him and for the first time a smile made its way to my face. I realized I hadn’t even thanked him.

“Thank you”, I said, feeling a little ashamed.

“No problem sir,” he replied with a grin and turned away.

He was going to leave like that?

“Wait!” I called after him and grabbed his arm. I tried to take him away from the group ofmotor-park touts that had surrounded us by then so we could be alone but he didn’t seem to understand my moves. So I brought out my wallet right there, pulled out some naira notes and squeezed them into his hand.

“Thank you sir!” he shouted gleefully and was immediately surrounded by the other touts. I hesitated for a moment and then walked away. I looked back and caught one more last glance of him as he joyfully shared his reward with the others.

It occurred to me there and then that one should never be too quick to profile people just because of the way they looked or where there worked.

Now I understand fully what it means to Never Judge a Book by its Cover!

THE END.
