I don't get this whole "you don't write your own songs so you can't sing" talk. How many artistes really write their own songs? Most have them written for them except for rappers, I guess.

there is nothing so stunning about her hips . . . they look like that cus she is bending hence it makes them look prominent . . . in my opinion, there are people that look better than her on nairaland in terms of either figure or height or skin colour or facially. . . so in reality i don't know what the big deal is all about.

Rihanna is not the best singer out there or anything but she does have a unique style to her(not referring to her dress sense). Some sounds she makes such as in "run this town" and "live your life"(the whole ehehehe thing) reminds me of naija music. You could tell she's different from these American singers we're used to listening to every time. In other words, her voice can be weird but in a cool way.

actually no, i think they would get A LOT further than Rihanna.
if beyonce and alicia keys didnt have looks they would at least have their talent and voices to fall back on.

in all reality . . . i do not have any personal thing against her . . .(except the occult connection of Jay Z whom she is professionally working with . . . )

Its just that in my own standards of things . . .manufactured music is kinda low on my scale of music that i respect . . . it does not have to be rihanna that is singing the manufactured music it can be anybody . . .

One way to discover manufactured music is ask yourself whehter the performer can actually do only singing at a concert or gig without adding anything else . . .like pyrothenics and back up dancers and so on. . .

When your music is good . . .u do not really need to distract people with other things . . .

I swear in about five years time, we will have full frontal nudity and sexual intercourse in music videos. Its all sex, sex, sex. Remember its not only late teenagers and 20something yr olds that watch these videos, 6-16yr old watch them too and we wonder why they learn about and experiment with sex at an early age . Good music passed away in the early Noughties. Its all recycled junk but we all complain about how so and so is not getting any shine well buy their albums and stop downloading them illegally . The reason why Cassie, Rhianna and the rest of the pretty faces with out voices are around is because people are buying their records.

Rihanna can sing. But she's no where in the league of Mary J. Blige, Beyonce, Alicia, Chrisette Michelle, even Fantasia let alone Leona Lewis. But she has a better vocal delivery than Britney Spears. There has not been any improvements on Rihanna's vocal range and she can't hold her own on stage. Her stage performances always come out mediocre and laid back. I expect her to be daring on stage as she is with her mode of dressing.
