While that sounds like a good idea from the customer's view, that is terrible news from the company's view. Producing phones of cost as low as 30 - 40k (putting in mind the current exchange rate of the naira to the dollar) is not feasible at all. They need quick return on investment so as to get back on their feet, solidly. Then they can go mid-mid range and possibly lower ranges. If you have the time and patience, read on how the electric car company, Tesla built their business. High cost - low quantity production to gain customers at the higher class (meaning more revenue for further production), Mid cost - moderate quantity production to gain the middle class, then low cost large quantity for the low price customers.
