Jerry and Evelyn Hosaflook of Bridgeport celebrated their golden wedding anniversary with a family dinner party hosted by their children at the Wonder Bar Steakhouse on Dec. 23, 2016.

Jerry and Evelyn were married on Christmas Eve, Dec. 24, 1966, at Lumberport Methodist Church.

Evelyn is the former Evelyn Hershman. Both she and Jerry are originally from Lumberport.

At the time of their marriage, Jerry was serving in the U.S. Army. During his three-year enlistment, he served in Vietnam and was stationed in Texas and Alabama, where the couple resided together. Upon his honorable discharge from the Army, the couple moved back to West Virginia, where Jerry was employed by Lockheed Martin.

In 1971, Jerry went to work for Pratt and Whitney, a UTC company. In 1979, he was transferred by Pratt and Whitney and moved to Bristol, Connecticut, where the couple raised their family and lived for 26 years. Jerry retired from UTC in 2004 with 33 years of service.

Evelyn attended Morgantown Beauty School and worked as a beautician in West Virginia for several years, but once the family moved to Connecticut, she worked full time as domestic engineer running the Hosaflook household with precision and love. Once their children were older, Evelyn returned to the workforce. She was employed by CIGNA Insurance and retired with 16 years of service in 2005.

Upon retirement, the couple moved back to their beloved home state of West Virginia and now reside in Bridgeport.

Jerry and Evelyn have been blessed with three wonderful children and grandchildren. Their daughter, Tracy Hosaflook Hanson and her husband David Hanson, reside in Meriden, Connecticut. Their son, Jeffery Hosaflook, his wife Mandy and their children Logan and Madison, reside in Clarksburg. Their son, Clifford Hosaflook, his wife Loren and their daughter Tara reside in Reedsville.

A gift of a stay at The Greenbrier was given to Jerry and Evelyn by their children and grandchildren.
