Man City to Barcelona: We'll pay £100million for Lionel Messi

English Premier League side, Manchester City, have made it crystal clear to Spanish giant, Barcelona, that they are ready to pay a record £100million fee to bring super star Lionel Messi to the Etihad Stadium, report says.

City currently sit ten points behind leaders Chelsea, and are outside the Premier League’s top four, with Manager Pep Guardiola recently declaring the Club is out of the title chase.

Before now, however, there have been suggestions that Messi could move elsewhere this season following the uncertainty over his contract situation at Barcelona. And the speculations have surfaced more than a few times, of the possibility of the Argentine reuniting with his old boss, Pep Guardiola, at Manchester City.

It reports that talks between executives of both clubs “were held at the end of last month to determine whether a world-record transfer is possible,” adding that, although City did not use those discussions to table any formal bid, Barcelona’s “willingness to listen” have encouraged them, and a source had described the meeting as positive.

City lost 4-0 at Everton on Sunday and are badly struggling under Guardiola this season as he seems to be failing to replicate the success he enjoyed in Spain and Germany in the Premier League.

But, though, City made it clear they would be ready to top the current world record £89million that Manchester United paid Juventus for Paul Pogba last summer, Barca have so far refused to name a price or even confirm they will sell Messi.
