How can u tell all cocoa farmers to cum to Ondo state to launch a programme they are not sure is different from d ones from d past. I think if any government wants to succeed in agriculture, the FG should focus on getting international off-takers for whatever we will produce tru bilateral agreements, invite investors to set up chocolate companies or even support indigenous ones with incentives n den set up a commodity board where government can buy at a price a bit lower dan d international market price, the government should den leave every other thing to the local government, they can employ young graduates as extension officers to work in various LGs tru n dey can deploy tractors, fertilisers, improve seedlings etc through them. If they can do this, den d sky is our starting point. Else we will just push people to d farm n there will b no market for their products n we will b back to ground zero. |
