Botswana have announced that they no longer recognize Yahya Jammeh as president of the Gambia.

The made this known in a statement released by Botswana’s government making them the first Country to announce they no longer recognize Jammeh as president of Gambia.

Botwana beckoned on international bodies to intervene in the recent crisis to ensure smooth transition of power in Gambia.

The statement reads

“Mr Jammeh’s decision not to respect the will of the Gambian people undermines the ongoing efforts to consolidate democracy and good governance in The Gambia and Africa as a whole. This is also in direct contravention of the spirit and aspirations of the African Union Constitutive Act.

“The Government of Botswana therefore continues to appeal to the international community to do all within its power to exert pressure on Mr Jammeh to hand over power in order to ensure a smooth transition.”

Mr Barrow was due to be inaugurated at a ceremony in The Gambia today, but Mr Jammeh has imposed a state of emergency and parliament has controversially extended his term by 90 days.

Meanwhile, Mr Barrow will be sworn in as Gambian President in Gambian Embassy in Dakar, Senegal.

Jammeh is just a coward, why not give a speech this morning stating for the love of Gambia, you are stepping down cause no Gambian blood is worth sharing. Everybody will celebrate you and call you hero. But you no like that one, idiot.
