The President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Comr. Aruna Kadiri, on Saturday January 21 visited the scene and victims of last week suicide bomb blast in the University of Maiduguri (UniMaid) who are presently receiving treatments at the University Teaching Hospital.
Speaking during the visit, Kadiri sympathised with the University community, government and the good people of Borno State over the unfortunate incident which claimed the lives of some students and a lecturer.
The President who was accompanied by some notable comrades and students leaders, prayed for Allah (SWT) to grant the souls of the deceased aljanatul firdaus and wished survivors quick and perfect recovery.
He described the BokoHaram sect as humanity's common enemy, urged Nigerians to unite, support the governments and military in the fight against terrorism.
He expressed confidence in the current leadership of the Nigerian Armed Forces, urged fellow Nigerians to continue to pray for them and the country at large.
Meanwhile, before visiting the scene of the blast, Kadiri addressed the management of the university, where he commended them for the proactive security measures put in place to avoid any future re-occurrence.
In the President's entourage were Comrade Ibrahim Ahmadu (Coach), Comrade Adamu Bauchi, Comrade Yahaya Mohammad Sabo, Comrade Ahmad Tijjani Shehu (TJ Crouch), Comrade L Gambo, Aluta Commander, Stakeholders and other SUG/SRC presidents across the region.
Earlier in the day, Kadiri on his way to Borno State stopped at Aminu Saleh College of Education Azare, Bauchi State where he had a brief discussion with the SUG Officials of the foremost citadel of learning.
The NANS President who had been in the Northern part of the country since Thursday January 19, also visited other campuses, most notable BUK and Sa'adatu Rimi College of Education where he commissioned a Students Social Centre, a project of the Comr. Tahir Suleiman led SUG.
Furthermore, he paid NANS Zone A Deputy Coordinator, Comr. Zainab T. Baba who lost her beloved mum some weeks ago a condolence visit at the family' residence in Kano State.
The first of its kind Campus Tour by the NANS President, commenced from the southern part, where among other campuses visited University of Port-Harcourt, Rivers State in the bid to ensure the reinstatement of the 23 expelled students.
He was also in Edo State School of Health Technology, Benin City, where he promised to monitor the forthcoming SUG elections in fulfilment of his campaign promise to revamp students unionism nationwide.
Recall that the school had since 2013 being operating without a Students Union Government (SUG). However following the intervention of NANS, it was reinstated by the management.
President Kadiri will round-up the Northern Nigeria Tour visiting other campuses also in Zone A and C as well.
It is worthy of appreciation to note that the NANS President soonest shall embark on aluta journey to FUT Minna, Niger State to address the issue of the expulsion of 700 students of the school. “We are bent on resolving all issues affecting our fellow students,” Aruna Kadiri stated.
Stay tune for more update.
