The early years of the prophets battles may have been defensive but as hi army grew and expanded he went on the offence and attacked and conquered not just the Arab world but swaths of territories in southern-Asia and his followers eventually took the campaign by the sword into Africa through North-Africa, dislodging the Byzantine authorities and then spreading further in-land into Africa.
