NDU: IJAW STUDENT LEADER CALLS ON ALL IJAW STUDENTS TO PREPARE FOR A MASSIVE PEACEFUL PROTESTS IF VARSITY SHUTS DOWN AGAIN.

The leadership of the National Union of Izon-Ibe students (Nuis) has called on all Students of Niger Delta University and every other Ijaw students in any part of the country to be on red alert and prepare for a massive peaceful protests in event if the State owned university embarks on indefinite strike or plans increment of fees beyond the current economic status of the country, due to harsh government decisions.

Making the call was the Director of Socials, Bodmas P. Kemepadei, he made the call while reacting to news that the state owned university lecturers and non academic staffs, were intent on embarking on an indefinite strike due to the State government negligence over issues of unpaid salaries and threats not to further fund the university.

Bodmas asked all Ijaw students who share in the dream of Boro and in the visions of late Chief DSP. Alamieyeseigha, not to sit idle and watch the only Ijaw education institutional heritage collapses under the administration of Gov. Henry Seriake Dickson, who from his antecedents has seen nothing good in the education of the Ijaw child, from refusal to pay primary school teachers to refusal to pay varsity workers.

He further described the Administration of Gov. Dickson has one that has come to finally put an end to literacy in Ijaw nation, Bodmas pointed out that since the inception of the administration, varsity students can no longer tell their fate as to when they will eventually graduate, lecturers have been owed for months which a few had died in the process, due to lack of funds for basic medical care, Children are barely seen in classes, primary school teachers are starving to death, schools have been shut down for months, and many more unfortunate events that has occurred under this era.

" I have never seen a government as insensitive as this, a government that declared emergency on education yet our children are unable to attend classes due to unpaid salaries, a government that does not awards scholarships, a government that has denied Ijaw students right to bursary, it is therefore obvious that if we continue in silence, educationally the Ijaw nation will be taken back to 100 years before now, it is time for us to stand up and speak up, we are Ijaw people, we are known for truth and to fight against injustice, let us stand up against the harsh educational policies of Gov. Henry Seriake, let's us all stand up to defend the visions of late Chief DSP, let's prove to Adaka Boro that he died for a good purpose, if not for ourselves, let's stand up to protect our unborn generation from cruelty and unfavourable policies, the time is now, prepare yourself, if the university shuts down, then let's hit the streets and speak up for our fore-fathers".

The Ijaw students leader further explained that Niger Delta University was founded for the purpose of educating the Ijaw child as such any plans to systematically push it aside would be massively opposed.

"Let me reiterate my stand once more, we are watching, Ijaw people are watching, Our educational system must be restored". He added.
