Nollywood Movie Covers by THEAMAKA3(f): 10:32pm On Dec 06, 2009 |
why do nollywood movie covers always consist of blown up faces? ive always wondered why instead of getting real covers for a movie, they just show the faces of the actors and actresses that act in the movie. i remember walking into a movie store in nigeria and getting a headache from the 100s of movies in there with the same ugly covers of faces look at me. AHHHH!!! cant they be more creative? something that would attract a person into buying it? i think this is another problem with nollywood. what is up with this? what about more movies with covers like this? (so much better) ^^^ i like this, kinda reminds me of "Mean Girls" (lol) |
Re: Nollywood Movie Covers by grafikdon: 11:46pm On Dec 06, 2009 |
Most of those covers are really repulsive. . . zero creativity. I guess they figured they could attract more ''business'' by slapping the face of every actor on the jacket. Even if they must slap the face on the covers (very ridiculous concept), they should at least be creative, instead of grating our nerves with pictures of actors making funny faces and mouths so wide open you'd think they're about to swallow a whole fried chicken with no intention of chewing. . . na real wah. Sometimes Nigerians can be so adamant and resistant to change, even when it is obvious to the blind man they're forcing a round peg into a square hole. The last three images you posted are very good. |

Nollywood rocks!!!! But recently, their movies is becoming BS. |
Re: Nollywood Movie Covers by THEAMAKA3(f): 12:04am On Dec 07, 2009 |
mama-gee:some of their movies rock. but i know you are a very opinionated lady, so what do you say about the movie covers? you like the way they are currently? |
Re: Nollywood Movie Covers by mamagee3(f): 12:11am On Dec 07, 2009 |
THE-AMAKA: I love the covers and their titles But the problem is the movie If only the movie can be the same There wouldn't be any problem. |
Re: Nollywood Movie Covers by THEAMAKA3(f): 12:13am On Dec 07, 2009 |
mama-gee:you actually like covers like Pains of Love and Games Men Play? i guess it is true when they say one man's fruit(or meal) is another man's poison. or however the saying goes. lol |
Re: Nollywood Movie Covers by mamagee3(f): 12:15am On Dec 07, 2009 |
THE-AMAKA: I love those movies But I think the other movies like Chukwuemeka Mohammed are new movies. |
Re: Nollywood Movie Covers by Nobody: 12:18am On Dec 07, 2009 |
Create a nice picture for the cover. What the Bleep is Nkem doing with his mouth like that? Guilty Pleasure and Girl's Cot were acceptable: Emem Isong is creative. But Games Men Play is horrible. How many are they? 10 people?? |
Re: Nollywood Movie Covers by mamagee3(f): 12:20am On Dec 07, 2009 |
Games Men play is total Bull That movie is utter garbage!!! |
Re: Nollywood Movie Covers by THEAMAKA3(f): 12:23am On Dec 07, 2009 |
mama-gee:i liked that movie, but the sequel "Reloaded" was better. michelin89:yes thats why i find Emem Isong the best nollywood producer by far. the rest cant even compete. she is VERY creative, unlike the rest. that looks more like 20 people!! lol |
Re: Nollywood Movie Covers by mamagee3(f): 12:25am On Dec 07, 2009 |
THE-AMAKA: Reloaded doesn't do them Justice!!! That's another garbage. |
Re: Nollywood Movie Covers by Nobody: 12:30am On Dec 07, 2009 |
And did you notice more famous actors get a bigger space even though they have no business with the movie? |
Re: Nollywood Movie Covers by mamagee3(f): 12:31am On Dec 07, 2009 |
michelin89: I don't get your point What do you mean? |
Re: Nollywood Movie Covers by THEAMAKA3(f): 12:33am On Dec 07, 2009 |
michelin89:yeah i noticed that. Alice My First Lady (which happens to be one of my favorite movies) is just like that. Patience Ozokwor was hardly in the movie, but she was blown up all over the cover. but i guess they did that to sell movies. the person on the far left was the #1 main star. Chinny Ahaneku (she is really good at what she does, even though she isnt that popular) hilarious movie. koolchicco uploaded it. |

Re: Nollywood Movie Covers by mamagee3(f): 12:40am On Dec 07, 2009 |
Mama-G is another classic movie Nollywood can never make again alongside Osuofia in London Two most compelling comedy movies. |
Re: Nollywood Movie Covers by Nobody: 12:43am On Dec 07, 2009 |
I agree. |
Re: Nollywood Movie Covers by THEAMAKA3(f): 12:53am On Dec 07, 2009 |
mama-gee:lol ive been meaning to watch mama g in america, but it slipped my mind. and then im gonna watch the return of mama g (which is probably the sequel) im bored now, so thanks. and Osuofia in London was hilarious!!! lol ive watched that movie so many times. but ive watched Alice My First Lady at least 20 times. its rare that i watch a nollywood movie more than once. i recommend everyone watch it. hilarious film. |
Re: Nollywood Movie Covers by cantell(m): 1:49am On Dec 07, 2009 |
@Amaka, The marketers use it as a business strategy.Nigerians love to see what they want to buy. The nos of actors & actresses in the posters improves the nos of sales made. It has nothing to do with nollywood. |
Re: Nollywood Movie Covers by chiogo(f): 2:07am On Dec 07, 2009 |
LOL YES!! Those movie covers are something else. One of my biggest turn-offs of Nollywood movies. The last 3 covers are very nice. The cover of Ije(?) looks very creative. |
Re: Nollywood Movie Covers by THEAMAKA3(f): 2:38am On Dec 07, 2009 |
chiogo:my sister, yes ooooo!! im telling you i had a HUGE headache in the movie store. it was sooo annoying! i couldnt wait to leave. Ije is really creative. more movies need to start looking like that. cantell:idk about that, but it wouldnt make me buy it. things like Guilty Pleasures, and Ije look good in my eye. if i see something like "Pains of Love" or "Be My Wife" i wouldnt even think of picking up the movie. nollywood needs to look at hollywood and bollywood as an example and change it up. this should be part of the improvement process. |
Re: Nollywood Movie Covers by Nobody: 2:59am On Dec 07, 2009 |
Seriously though, they need to stop with the mess. Its either two faces or no faces at all. All these jealous actors/actresses |
Re: Nollywood Movie Covers by eminemkayc: 12:55pm On Dec 07, 2009 |
NEVER WATCHED A NOLLYWOOD MOVIE IN MY LIFE AND DON'T THINK ILL EVA WATCH ONE!!! BULLSHEET!! JUST BOUGHT 2012 ANYWAY, RUNNING HOME TO WATCH THE MOVIE!! |
Re: Nollywood Movie Covers by Redman44(m): 1:06pm On Dec 07, 2009 |
@eminemkayc Not all Nigerian movies are badly produced, scripted or directed. Some Nollywood movies make much sense than some of the crap Hollywood churns out. Try and watch Afolayan's- The Figurine. Some Nigerian producers are bringing out good stuff these days. Cheers. |
Re: Nollywood Movie Covers by Tudor6(f): 1:17pm On Dec 07, 2009 |
eminemkayc:Good for you. Run home and don't look back. People deserve quality movies and nollywood aint it. . . Infact its terrible! |
