Planning an impromptu party or get together can be a bit tasking because while you rush to get everything settled, you end up forgetting somethings and missing the most important point. Planning a party is not about entertainment and fun alone, while those things make it successful, the most important piece of a party is ‘food and drinks’. You can not plan a party without having those two in abundance and you need a variety, different types of snacks and biscuits to fill the guests up.

Since it is just a get together, maybe a living room party so you could organize games and play music from a speaker but the problem of what to eat still stands. You can’t have fun on an empty stomach and if you think about it, people love a host that can provide food, seriously we are all FFOs (For Food Only). So if you want to be the best host amongst your friends, you need to follow this list.

Impromptu Grocery List

Wine, Beer, Juice, Can drinks, 100cl drinks & Water: There is no party without alcohol but you should also get non-alcoholic drinks, you might have guests who don’t drink alcohol and some might need to mix it up.

Take away packs, Beer cups, Disposable plates and cutlery: A get-together with a lot of tipsy people doesn’t need ceramic plates; all you need are things that are unbreakable because people become restless with excitement and you don’t want to clean up every time someone stands up.

Ice cream and chocolates: A big bowl of ice cream will do, depending on the amount of people you invite and a pack or two packs of celebrations or whatever chocolate you find is okay, as long as they are small and plenty in a pack, the more the merrier.

Frozen food: You could fix something up with chicken wings or minced meat just be creative, a get together doesn’t need party jollof or Nigerian Jollof as we call it, you just need to feed your friends nothing much, it is not a wedding.

Ready-made meals: If you are too tired to make anything with frozen foods, there are packs of ready-made meals you can just heat up, like samosa, spring rolls, chicken nuggets and so on.

Chops: Chops like cookies, chin-chin, peanut, popcorn, plantain and potato chips, cheese balls, pringles and so on makes it look like you have a lot of food to offer your guests and you don’t want your friends to run out of things to eat. You need something that gives your guests something to munch on while you chat and hangout.

Serviettes and Tooth picks: For cleaning spills and serving guests, you just need to lay it on every table people would find it wherever they are.

And that’s all you need, you don’t have to use everything on this list, you could trim it depending on your budget. This is a list to give you an idea of what and what you need, you don’t need to go all out, your budget is all that matters.
