Why Does Etisalat Nigeria Charge Customers For Using Their Banks' USSD Code? by picsOR: 10:58am On Feb 17, 2017
This is a HUGE problem.

Yesterday, I ran out of airtime on Etisalat. Dialed *737*amount# to recharge. But no, it didn't go, I kept getting "Balance insufficient for this service"

I had money in my account. I thought the fault was from my bank. I grab a recharge card from a vendor, load and try *737*amount# again again - Boom, it worked!

Why does etisalat charge customers for using the Bank's USSD code for recharging? Who else has noticed this? So this means, if your balance goes to ZERO, you will be unable to use your Bank's USSD code to recharge?

Is this the same on other networks? Who has noticed this? This needs to stop!

@honsule @puskin @dragnet @lalasticalala @seun Please put this on the frontpage as this is a serious issue that needs to be looked into.

Is this NOT counter-intuitive? How will I top up my line when you want to charge me for using a Banks' USSD code to recharge?

Why can't they deduct it afterwards?
