KINDLY TELL ME WHERE IN IBO HISTORY DO YOU BEAR OBA TALA? WHERE DID OGBONI STARTED FROM? WHERE DO YOU BEAR AKIN (OBAMAKIN)(OBA-MU-AKIN) IN YOUR IBO NAME? YOUR ORIGINAL NAME WAS NOT IGBO READ THE STORY OF A YORUBA OLUKUNMI WARRIOR IN 18TH CENTURY CALLED; CARLOTTA Carlota, together with another Yoruba man; Eduardo and the Manuel gang, led the rebellion against the mayoral of the mill and his assistants. During this period there were numerous confrontations between the slaves and the prevailing slave regime. Slaves did not know the day or exact place of their birth and they carried out the insurrection in the yumurinas lands. The masters' house and residence was burnt down, and also part of the bohíos of the batey. The rebellion managed to extend through the province of Matanzas to the endowments of the mills "Ácana", "Concepción", "San Lorenzo" and " San Miguel ", and numerous coffee plantations and cattle farms. Drums were the method of communication. There were two Yoruba Africans in connection: Evaristo and Fermina, of the ingenuity "Acana". They devoted themselves to campaigning among the slaves to put an end to the brutality of the system. They managed to communicate by the drums which they interpreted with eloquence. On the 5th of November of 1843, the slaves of "Triunvirato" rebelled. In the "San Rafael" mill, Carlota died while fighting in March 1844.[4] There is a monument dedicated to Carlota which stands amidst the ruins of the Triunvirato mill in the province of Matanzas DO YOU EVEN KNOW OBATALA'S OTHER NAME? HIS OTHER NAME DO YOU EVEN KNOW THE MEANING OF OSERE? WHO REALLY TOLD YOU ABOUT OSERE? THEN YOU CAN CLAIM ISERI AS YOUR PEOPLE. LET ANGRY YORUBA PEOPLE CATCH YOU. IF YOU ARE OBSESSED ABOUT IDENTIFICATION WITH YORUBA, GO AND JOIN OGBONI OR OSUBGBO OR LEARN IFA FOR AT LEAST 16EARS . AND IF YOU ARE VERY BRILLIANT BUT IF YOU ARE NOT, YOU CAN SPEND 25-30YEARS. THE CHOICE IS YOURS.... 1 Like |

lawani: I don't agree with you lumping Igbos as people who were under the Benin Empire when what they had was really a close association. When you say Benin Empire and Its Igbo Peoples, you are implying that the Igbos were once under the Benin Empire, whereas, the truth is that both people's have always had a close, peaceful association. As for some Onitsha People saying they are Benin People, the fact is that Benin had a close cultural and political association with the Anioma Igbos, ever since the time of Uhe. Who would not like to associate with the Benin People and their great culture? But you make it seem as if the Benin People subjugated the Igbo, which is not the case, at all. It was a case of soft power. Even today, Nigerians still widely admire the Benin People for their dignified monarchy and culture. Does that mean that they have subjugated Nigeria? No. Ugbodu is an Igbo town. What you see them speak is an ancient Igbo tongue called Lucumi. |

igbodefender: Olukunmi is a Yoruba dialect and subgroup similar to Itsekiri, Ilaje and Owo. They can understand themselves but the Olukunmi speak Igbo as second language. Olukunmi is not an Igbo but a Yoruba dialect spoken by a Yoruba subnation bordering Igbo land. Olukunmi has no cultural similarity with Nri Igbo since they are like other Yoruba groups with Kings and other things like masquerades and etc. At best you call them Yoruba Igbo because all of them speak Igbo but they must have autonomy over their affairs of course while they continue identifying as Yorubas. The Ikwerre and Ogba wey you don change to Igbos never do you?. 3 Likes 1 Share |

lawani: Igbos changed Ikwerre and Ogba to Igbo? Wow. How did they manage that. Didn't you tell us Igbo people were isolated villagers who did not travel out of their villages and lived in isolation like the Koma people until the British discovered them? How did they manage to Igbonise Ikwerre and Ogba? 1 Like |

RedboneSmith: IT IS AN ACADEMIC ISSUE THAT HAS BEEN ESTABLISHED, IGBOS WERE ISOLATED, KNOWN ONLY TO THEIR IMMEDIATE NEIGHBORS UNTIL THE LATE 19TH CENTURY. THEY DID NOT LIKE LEAVING THEIR VILLAGES AT ALL IN THE PAST. THEY DEALT ONLY WITH THEIR IMMEDIATE HEIGHBORS AND NO ONE ELSE AND THOSE ONES HAD TO LEARN THEIR LANGUAGE TO BUY PALM OIL, YAMS AND ETC FROM THEM WHICH THEY PRODUCED IN EXCESS. |

lawani: Igbos ate not an isolated people. In fact they have been great travellers for millenia. Their travels did not start today. Even today, you can see Igbos in every part of Nigeria and every part of the world. The Igbos are anti-solation, in fact. |

lawani: In essence you are saying Ikwerre and Ogba were buying yams and palm oil from Igbos, and that was how they became 'Igbonised'? When Ikwerre people have more fertile lands and produce more yams than their immediate Igbo neighbours in Imo State. Why have you refused to stick to what you know for sure? 1 Like |

RedboneSmith:I Am Not Ikwerre Or Ogba but i know those people claim Benin And hence Yoruba origin just like the Olukunmi In Delta state. Go back a few centuries and you will find Ogba, Ikwerre and even Onitsha Speaking Yoruba as do the Olukunmi Today. |
