I- CONTEXT AND JUSTIFICATION
• The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has adopted a Strategic Plan 2016-2020, the main objective of which is to respond adequately to the socio-economic aspirations of its 15 Member States and ECOWAS of Peoples by 2020 (www.ecowas.int).

• This aspiration calls for greater investment in human capital for sustainable development and enhanced program effectiveness.

• Strengthening the capacity of young graduates in the region is therefore important, by offering involvement opportunities in community programs. This allows for professional integration of young academics wishing to fine an internship towards professionalism and finalization of their Academic cycle.

• ECOWAS programs will have the opportunity to receive contributions from young people to achieve the objectives assigned to ECOWAS.
II- OBJECTIVES OF THE INTERNSHIP
 Overall objective:

• Enable students to learn more about ECOWAS programs and receive input for effective implementation.
 Specific objectives:

• Provide opportunities for immersion training in regional institutions;

• Have contributions from young people on the major programs of ECOWAS: Education, Science and Culture; Agriculture and Environment; Macro-economic; Customs, Trade and Free Movement; Infrastructure; Political affairs, peace and security; Social affairs and gender; Information and Communication Technology; Energy and mining;…

III- EXPECTED RESULTS
• Better knowledge of ECOWAS programs by youth;
• Young people acquisition of valuable professional experience for their careers;
• ECOWAS programs obtain input from youth for implementation.
IV- TARGET AUDIENCE:
• Young graduates from ECOWAS Member States, 20-40 years old.
V- SELECTION CRITERIA
• Be a citizen of an ECOWAS Member States;
• Be a Bachelor’s, Master’s, PhD or equivalent student;
• Propose a co-supervisor from your university capable of pedagogical follow-up (if you are a master student);
• Submit:
 a request to the ECOWAS Commissioner in charge of Education, Science and Culture conveying acceptance to respect the terms and conditions of the course.
 a letter of expression of interest for the internship;
 a Curriculum vitae
 copies of certificates or diplomas
VI- CONDITIONS OF THE INTERNSHIP
• A flat monthly allowance of $ 400 over a maximum period of 6 months;
• Completion of the internship in the ECOWAS Institutions, or any other place duly designated by ECOWAS;
• Production of a report at the end of the period.
• The practical arrangements will be defined in relation to the host department;
• Only successful candidate will be contacted;
• The internship is not connected to employment.
VII- PROGRAM COORDINATION
• Coordination of the internship program is carried out by the Education, Science and Culture Department of ECOWAS, in collaboration with the Human Resources Department.
