Fatimat Raji-Rasaki Ignores Fayose, Supports Sheriff by kahal29: 4:02am On Feb 27, 2017
While the Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, champions the movement against Ali Sheriff as Peoples Democratic Party chairman, a senator from his state has declared full support for Mr. Sheriff.

Mr. Sheriff has been recognised as PDP chairman by the Court of Appeal. But Mr. Fayose, who heads the PDP Governors Forum, and other party leaders have restated their opposition to Mr. Sheriff and vowed to appeal the judgement at the Supreme Court.

However, on Sunday, Fatimat Raji-Rasaki, who represents Ekiti Central Senatorial District said Mr. Sheriff was the authentic national chairman of the PDP.

She made the declaration on Sunday in Ado-Ekiti while speaking with journalists at the end of a three-day capacity building training on ICT she organised for 100 beneficiaries in her constituency.

Mrs. Raji-Rasaki’s declaration comes days after another senator from Bayelsa State, Ben Murray-Bruce also declared support for Mr. Sheriff saying there was no need for further litigations.

On Sunday, Mrs. Raji-Rasaki, who is the Chairman, Senate Committee on Trade and Investment, said the era of impunity was dead in the PDP.

She said that the Court of Appeal judgment which affirmed Mr. Sheriff as the national chairman of PDP had afforded the party an opportunity to put its house in order.

The lawmaker, who belongs to a rival PDP faction in Ekiti different from the governor’s, said the recent developments in Ekiti and at the national level, would enable the PDP prepare ahead of the 2019 general elections.

She described the Court of Appeal judgment as a “new lease of life’’ for members of the party.

The senator, who distributed free laptops to participants who attended the training, stressed that anybody that wants to make impact in today’s world must be empowered technologically.

She urged the beneficiaries to put into practice what they learnt at the training.

Mrs. Raji-Rasaki expressed sadness that impunity, lawlessness, violation of the PDP constitution and abuse of power by people whose names she did not mention, had negatively affected the party’s fortunes before the judgment.

She expressed hope that the PDP would emerge stronger from its crises to be a party that would allow equity, justice, fair play, adherence to due process and the principles of democracy to thrive.

The senator expressed satisfaction that the judiciary intervened and resolved the protracted crises rocking the party.

She lauded the Ekiti chapter of the party for affirming Williams Ajayi as the authentic state chairman.
She alleged that some individuals in the PDP had turned the party into their personal property where party congresses and primaries elections to elect candidates were hijacked.

She added that members of the party were not allowed to choose candidates of their choice.
She said: “Crisis in any political party is part of democracy because we disagree to agree.

“We, the authentic PDP, are being led by Ali Modu Sheriff and we thank God that the court judgment has put an end to impunity in our party.

“Impunity is one thing that destroys any organisation or association where people decide and subscribe to rules and regulations guiding them.

“It is a pity that some people turned the PDP to a place where one person will corner everything and turn it to PLC.

“A party is supposed to be where everybody has a say because we are in a democracy.

“In Ekiti, the authentic executive has won in court as well, so in the PDP, we have no option than to obey the rule of law.”

PDP is simply a house in turmoil and confusion with no end in sight......

a big shame they can't play the opposition party card after being so used to the position of ruling party........ clearly still haven't recovered from the shock of losing the power at the centre.

You mean Senator Obama Obanikoro has aligned with Sheriff?

1 Ekiti PDP senator has done the same.

Fayose 2018 is beginning to rear its head.

Before opening the thread, I had a feeling the senator would be Fatima Raji-Rasaki. She's the only senator from Ekiti that doesn't swallow Fayose's bullshit. She's the wife of a firmer military governor so, her not being cowed easily is understandable.

This is the first open crack in Fayose's camp and many more will happen as we heads towards the 2018 governorship election and 2019 general election. Fayose is a dictator who believes in imposing candidates of his choice at all levels even against the desire of majority of the people. Managing the conflict of interest among his loyalists will be his major undoing.

Great I like this development... Fayose robbed a young man Ajijola for this woman.... Talk about karma... Ajijola won the PDP primaries.... For the Ekiti central senatorial district..... I like this karma.
He lacks the intellectual acumen to survive an egalitarian attack.

APC should leave him alone.... they are the ones making him popular

This is what is currently happening in Lagos West Senatorial district featuring Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Honourable Solomon Olamilekan Adeola alias YAYI.

On 6th of Feb 2014, YAYI Adeola in Ilaro, Yewa South LG of Ogun State, registered to contest for senate, Ogun West.
All of a sudden, with the help of his in-law Tinubu, YAYI surfaced in Lagos West after losing out in the APC primaries in Ogun West.

There are three senatorial districts in Lagos and Tinubu’s family members are jostling for two of those. It's on record that Solomon Olamilekan Adeola - YAYI married from Tinubu’s family. I'm also aware that Tinubu’s wife is the incumbent senator for Lagos Central.

Are there no other candidates the APC can come up with. Why must they be from Tinubu’s family? Do we need a confused YAYI in Lagos West? Has Lagos become the waste dump of Ogun state?

It is obvious YAYI is after his personal interest and those of his godfather Tinubu. ‪#‎LagosWestDeservesBetter‬ than him and APC

Now you can understand when they say APC is Tinubu's business enterprise

Obasanjo endorses APC moves, as party leadership visit Abeokuta
22.Dec 2013

The push by the opposition, All Progressives Congress, APC to dislodge the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP received a boost yesterday as former President Olusegun Obasanjo openly threw his weight behind the APC’s current initiatives.
The APC leadership, comprising some national leaders and governors visited him Obasanjo in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital on Saturday to solicit the former president’s support for the party in the forthcoming elections.
The party leaders, which started converging on Obasanjo’s Hilltop Mansion around 5:22pm, included former governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the party’s Interim National Chairman, Bisi Akande; former Head of State, General Muhammadu Buhari; former speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Masari; former Borno State governor, Senator Ali Modu-Sheriff; Senator Osita Isunazor; Senator Bukola Saraki and Lai Mohammed.
Governor Murtala Nyako of Adamawa State came to the former president’s house in company with the former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commissioin, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu; the former minister of aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode and others in a convoy of three black jeeps.
Other APC governors at the meeting included Rochas Okorocha (Imo), Ibikunle Amosun (Ogun), Abdulfattah Ahmed (Kwara), Rotimi Amaechi (Rivers), Rabiu Kwankwaso (Kano) and Senator Abiola Ajimobi (Oyo).
The Chairman of the New PDP, Kawu Baraje led some of his members and the former Kaduna State Chairman, Yero Makama, to the meeting.
Presenting the party chieftains and the APC governors to Obasanjo during the opening of the meeting, Akande said the party was in support of the former president’s 18-page letter to President Goodluck Jonathan.
The APC National Leader, Tinubu who alluded to Obasanjo’s contribution to the building of the Nigerian nation, lamented that the country was divided more than ever.
Apparently referring to Obasanjo’s recent letter to Jonathan, he enjoined the former president not to shy away from speaking the truth.
Tinubu added that the APC had resolved to rescue Nigeria, appealing to Obasanjo to lead the mission.
“You’ve come out of tribulation and held the highest position in this country. We are here because of your courage. Nobody can say he has information more than you. You have surmounted a number of crises. Nigeria is divided more than before; to realise stable Nigeria, we want to encourage you to continue to speak the truth. We’re resolved and determined to rescue Nigeria. We want you as navigator,” he said.

Let me set the record straight. Majority of this non-yoruba supporters of Fayose doesn't know jack about this man and politics at large. He is cunning and can at anytime decamp, all he's doing is for his own personal interest and not to strengthen Democracy or whatever they call it. Let it be on record that we warned them never to trust Fayose because when they start crying Afonjas and inconsistency, then we'll show them the list of their own politicians who decamped and nobody gave a single fucck in SW

She feels her stint in the House of Reps should have afforded her some large discounts in that transaction but our basketmouth big bros nor gree.. smiley

Fayose's loyalists in Ekiti are far more than the ones in the HOA and far away social media supporters. Yes, his popularity has dwindled but, he's still very popular among the grassroot dwellers.

Every miscreant who can barely read and write in Ekiti PDP today is either aspiring to become a councillor, chairman or assembly member. They believe all they need to attain the desired office is to remain loyal to Fayose who will impose them irrespective of their competence. Such believe brings about blind loyalty.

Except APC put their house in order and present a united front against Fayose's candidate, I don't see the party defeating PDP in 2018. Ekiti workers are angry with Fayose but they are not pandering towards APC either.
