Dr. Ben Carson has just been appointed as the United States Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Secretary and in his inaugural address to the employees of the department, he dropped a bombshell- slaves shipped from Africa according to him were ‘immigrants’. He said:
“That’s what America is about. A land of dreams and opportunity. There were other immigrants who came here in the bottom of slave ships, worked even longer, even harder, for less.
But they too had a dream that one day their sons, daughters, grandsons, granddaughters, great-grandsons, great-granddaughters might pursue prosperity and happiness in this land.“

Many users on Twitter including star actor, Samuel L. Jackson condemned Carson for his perceived lack of understanding and appreciation of history.
