THIS IS WHY CANDIDATES ARE REJECTING YOUR JOB OFFERS

Recruiting new talents for your company can be a stressful process for you and your potential employee(s). It can be frustrating to spend money to fill a vacant role only to have the chosen candidate reject the job offer. One would think since jobs are difficult to come by in Nigeria, job seekers will jump at any offer. However, this is not the case, candidates are rejecting job offer every day. If you are a recruiter who has been finding it difficult to fill a vacant position, here are the reasons why your offer is being rejected.

Bad Impression:

It is not only the candidate that should strive to make a great impression during interviews, the interviewer should also be professional. Just as a job seeker must never arrive late for an interview, an interviewer should also be time conscious. It is very unprofessional to keep a candidate waiting for hours after the allotted interview time. Job seekers take time out to meet with the interviewers and this should be respected. Also, answering phone calls during the interview is highly unprofessional. This makes the recruiter look unserious.

Disrespecting the Candidate:

Nobody wants to work in an environment where employees are not respected. If you use derogatory words to describe a candidate during the interview, chances are they will not accept your job offer.

Company culture:

Just as interviewers study the job seekers and silently judge them, the job seekers are also studying your company culture and the attitude of your employees to one another. The dress code of the company might also be a turn off for some.

Long Interview Process:

Some recruiters don’t make a hiring decision until months after the interview. This is risky as the candidate you plan on offering the job might have gotten another offer by the time you make your decision.

Mediocre offer:

Offering to pay potential employees less than their experiences and qualifications are worth can lead to rejection. Candidates can also reject offers if the salary is not worth the job responsibilities.

Feedback:

A lot of job seekers these days research a company before going for the interview. They read reviews on the internet. During the course of their research, they might come across reviews from employees in your company. They might even know someone who works there personally. If the feedback from your employees is negative, the candidate might be reluctant to work for you.

Counter offer:

Another organisation might give the candidate a better offer. Of course, the candidate will choose the job with better benefits and salary.

Advertising the wrong way:

By using the old form of recruitment strategy you are not hitting the right target. These days, job seekers use their mobile devices to search for jobs. Advertising jobs using traditional advertising media like newspapers and magazines will not give you a large number of applicants to select from.

That is why Assist to Hire candidate search and selection technology was created. It helps to eliminate the problem of mismatched job posting and applicants. What’s more? It is easy to use and it saves time!
