A 22-year-old union worker, Sunday Olaopa, who allegedly assaulted a conductor by hitting him with a sharp object on his manhood, was on Tuesday brought before an Ikeja Magistrates' Court.

Olaopa, an official of the National Union of Road and Transport Workers (NURTW), is standing trial on a one-count charge of assault.

The Prosecutor, Sgt. Mike Unah, told the court that the accused, who entered a “not guilty plea, committed the offence on Feb. 23 at Iju Ishaga Garage, Lagos.

Unah alleged that Olaopa, who resides at Olayinka Street, Ajuwon, Lagos, assaulted the complainant, Ubong Bassey, by using a sharp object to hit him on his manhood.
