Our fathers seem to have thought holding on to power was the only way that they could be relevant. And even when they were obviously misrulling, they never quit. They garner favor by sentiments and resort to bribery. These are times of change (not the APC kind). Africa must judge based on patriotism, track record and vision. I look forward to seeing contenders lose/gain political points because of their performances in various debates.

Wow !what a shocker?I am very happy that this man was butted out of office.Shame to those nigerian people who supported issa hayatou.I heard a man through Brilla fm this morning from the house of Rep praising issa hayattou and castigating our own nff president saying that he is not qualified to be on the job.Shame to them for crucifying nigeria and african football.I STAND WITH AMAJU PINNICK AND THE NEW CAF PRESIDENT AHMED AHMED.

Good riddance to bad rubbish, after almost making the post his permanent abode. It's like he was going to be there forever. When someone holds on too tenaciously to a particular position for so long, then he is bound to lose steam and ideas because we keep evolving new ideas day in day out bt this man wasn't still ready to give way for the younger generation and hence the need to boot him out...

Ahmed Ahmed is the new president of the Confederation of African Football (CAF). Ahmed, who is from Madagascar beat Cameroonian Issa Hayatou by 34 to 20 votes in the election which held on Thursday at the headquarters of the African Union in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Before his defeat, Hayatou led CAF for 29 years following his election in 1988.

The surprise result, which was announced Caf’s 39th General Assembly in Addis Ababa, prompted shock and celebration across social media, with many fans, pundits and observers celebrating the departure of the 70-year-old, who has been accused of various controversies during his long stint at the helm.

Issa Hayatou did not know when to quit. He had to be 'disgraced' out of office for him to know that time was up for him.

GOOD RIDDANCE.

I am curious to know how Pinnick voted. Did he vote for hayatou or Ahmed?

Pinnick is another individual that has benefited immensely from the Blatter/Hayatou partnership.
Pinnick and Nigeria were d ones that supported and rooted for Ahmed

I, as a Cameroonian, am very happy that Hayatou is out. Up Next Biya!!! All those power-hungry, egocentric gizzers thought they'll have power forever. Even Eto'o was against Hayatou. Oya start putting your house in order Hayatou. You are up next for prison!!!

Let the new dawn begin.

Let African football competitions get new rave of attention.

Let the boring format of CAF champions league be dumped and a new one adopted for more fluidity and attention.

Yes yes(clenches fist)

Old Hayatou can now enjoy his vacation, retirement room; that's if he isn't prosecuted.
