From the office of the Student Union, read special reports below: UNIVERSITY OF JOS STUDENTS UNION GOVERNMENT OFFICE OF THE PUBLIC RELATIONS OFFICER DATE:16/03/2017 REF:UJ/SUG/PRO/ INTERNAL/URGENT MESSAGE The SUG University of jos under the able leadership of the Comr Sidney daman led administration would like to make the following charities in respite to comments made at the Stakeholders meeting today at The Multi Purpose Auditorium Main Campus Bauchi Road by members of the University Management Team: 1. The SUG wish to make this very clear that there was never a time, day, month, or year that either the SUG president Comr Sidney S Daman, the SUG executives, The Speaker or Parliamentarians ever agreed in any negotiation to the proposed Increase the in School fees charges. To this we again aim to counter the Comments of the Vice Chancellor when he categorically implied that the Students were mere observers because we have negotiated the new proposed charge. To This, we say it is a conscious attempt by the Vice Chancellor to bypass the dully elected representatives of the students and we say NO TO AUTOCRACY! 2. Secondly, the SUG which is the collective body and representatives of all Jossites NEVER at anytime Agree to contribute or pay or ask her members (the students) to PAY OR contribute #1,000(One Thousand Naira) each to aide the BEAUTY FROM ASHES project, an initiative of the School Management to rebuild the burnt library complex in Permanent Site CAMPUS, University Of Jos. This is in direct contradiction of the Statement by the Vice Chancellor Of the University of Jos Prof. Sebastine S Maimako that Students have/had agreed to contribute said money to the project. To this We ask all Jossites to disregard any said theory to the contrary. 3. We wish to comment our dismay as a Union and a major stakeholder in the University to the denial of the basic rights of the SUG PRESIDENT to speak at the meeting. This is in direct infringement of his basic human rights as enshrined in the 1999 Nigerian Constitution as amended. This shows total disregard for the office, the Union and Great Jossites at large. 4. As a result The SUG invites all faculty and department Excos, the has government, Senators, course reps to a general meeting slated as follows: Date:17/03/2017 Time:9am prompt Venue:Naraguta cafeteria, after the SUG Lodge. For Unity sake, For freedom sake, for The sake of Those who cannot Afford this New charges, For the sake of the Unpaid Parents/Guidan, for the sake of poor farmers who wants their Children to be Educated, for the sake of Nigerian students who pay their fees themselves, We ask that you attend this emergency meeting and on time. FOR AN INJURY TO ONE IS AN INJURY TO ALL. UNITED WE BARGAIN DIVIDED WE BEG. Signed: Comr Sidney S Daman Comr Agnes Onyekwere Nonso Comr Rothman Aaron Michael Comr Humphrey O Boniface Comr Dave Zuhumman Dapel Comr Ruth T Damar Comr Marian I Anya Comr Paul D Dalyop Comr Benjamin N O Cyril Comr Paul Lar Comr Emmanuel J Onyekwere Cc All Parliamentarians, All faculty president and EXCOS, All departmental president and EXCOS, All course representatives, All Jossites, All stakeholders and friends of the union.
