Lagos lagoon drown doctor's body recovered - Police

A body suspected to be corpse of a medical doctor, Allwell Orji, who jumped into the lagoon on Third Mainland Bridge has been recovered by marine policemen.

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Lagos Command, Fatai Owoseni, who confirmed the recovery of the body on Tuesday had earlier said that the medical doctor’s body should come afloat 48 hours after the incident.

Owoseni earlier said that the search and rescue team, comprising officials of Marine Police, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) and local divers, would be intensified on Tuesday to ensure the body is recovered immediately it comes afloat.

The Commissioner who gave the assurance during a television programme, said that the rescue operation will not be suspended until the body is recovered.

He said: “we are relying on natural belief that after 48 hours, the body should come afloat and that was why we have partnered with other emergency agencies to ensure that the body is recovered.”
