Plantain and Banana are also an important source of revenue for farmers who produce the crops in small-scale field plantations and Backyards. Backyard soil is very rich in organic matter and nutrients from household refuse which is dumped there. Such gar-dens are permanently in use for plantains which grow there luxuriantly, become very large and produce heavy bunches. They grow in groups or clusters as each bearing plant produces many suckers which are not pruned out. Human activity is limited to manuring, propping and harvesting

All advanced economies of the world have highly developed farming system. Economic greatness is staring Nigeria in the face and agriculture is the foundation, I'm happy being a player in this foundation laying efforts.

*CASH CROPS: A GUARANTEED RETIREMENT

If you are in your 40's (wherever you may be working or whatever you may be doing presently)  & you don't  have a retirement  plan, then; the real truth is,  you are in for a looooonnnng thing at retirement. Retirement  is a stage when one is expected to earn income from the various investments one might have done earlier in life.

Retirement  is real, it is sure & it will come. Sometimes  it comes upon us without us preparing for it. So,  *pls; follow a plan now.*

What are your plans?  What are your short,  medium & long term plans for retirement? 

As I mentioned  in another series, your short term must feed your medium term  which  in turn must feed your  long term plan. If you are not following this order,  chances are; you may not achieve  your aim. *Pls, follow a plan.*

A pension is a fund into which a sum of money is added (or invested)  during an employee's employment years (farmers productive years), and from which payments are drawn (harvest is sold) to support the person's retirement from work in the form of periodic payments. (by wikipedia)

*If you may ask, Why cash or tree crop as agro investment  retirement option?*

✔If you are into animal husbandry,  you need to be there almost  daily to make money. 

✔If you do arable farming,  you must be on the farm  regularly to get anything  out.

✔If you are into agriculture bizness, most times; your personal  touch is required to make income.

But,  for cash or tree crops,  once the crop has cross the ICU stage,  then,  it is in cruise  mode & you can make money almost for life.  So,  why not consider this option?

Depending on location,  there are several  cash  or tree crops  that can serve this purpose.The fear has always been that it takes a long time for tree crops to start  giving income. But, these days; the longest maturity  date for any commercially viable tree crop is 3 years after planting. So,  what are you waiting for?  If you start today, by 2021, your tree crop will start paying you, & most likely  will pay you for life.

*Pls, follow a plan* that will ensure you get regular income from your agro hustles/investment
where we open your eyes to opportunities  inherent  in  cash or tree crop farming.

Robert  Kiyosaki says: Investment is a plan.  Hence, I am bold to also say that  retirement investment too, is a plan. As we know,  failure to plan means planning to fail.
