After about 5 years of court trial, A Lagos State High Court in Igbosere has sentenced two men, Okwumo Nwabufo and Olisaeloka Ezike, to death by hanging for the killing of Cynthia Osokogu.

Miss Osokogu was the daughter of a retired Major General in the Nigerian Army and was a Post graduate student of Nasarawa State University before she was allegedly lured by her Facebook friends in 2012 to Cosmilla Hotel, Lakeview Estate in FESTAC area of Lagos where she was killed by the convicts.
The body of late Cynthia, 24, the only daughter of a retired Major General, Frank Osokogu, was discovered in a Lagos morgue a month after she was declared missing by her family.

In a judgment on Thursday,which lasted for more than four hours, the presiding judge, Justice Olabisi Akinlade held that evidence presented before the court, testimonies of prosecution witnesses, and confessional statements made to the police, left no doubt that Nwabufo and Ezike killed Cynthia Osokogu and are guilty of conspiracy and stealing.

But the judge discharged two other accused charged alongside the convicted two.

The two convicts were on February 8, 2013 arraigned alongside Orji Osita, and Ezike Nonso on a six-count charge of conspiracy, murder, stealing, recklessness, negligence and possession of stolen goods.

During the proceedings, 10 witnesses gave evidence.

In sentencing the convicts, the judge said” Both of you should be hanged till you are dead. May the Lord have mercy on your souls.”
