What is this you answered. You used odd numbers for d samples and you used even number for the equation. Brother you need divine help from Jah

Loool. i have explained myself na cheesy cheesy

3 x 2 = 6 ... + 1 = 7 (1 that was added is the number before 2 [the least number in the equation])
5 x 4 = 20 ... + 3 = 23 (3 that was added is the number before 4 [the least number in the equation])
7 x 6 = 42 ... + 5 = 47 (5 that was added is the number before 6 [the least number in the equation])
9 x 8 = 72 ... + 7 = 79 (7 that was added is the number before 8 [the least number in the equation])

10 x 9 = 90 ... + 8 = 98 (8 that was added is the number before 9 [the least number in the equation])

Answer is 98

The numbers in the first line when reversed give 23

Cross the second and third line and it gives 47

Third and fourth line give 79

Repeat the sequence in the first line again to give 98.

+ 8 = 98 (8 that was added is the number before 9 [the least number in the equation])

maybe there is a shorter way to explain this.. but the above is how i arrived at 98

In your maths mind, knowing fully well that the foundation of maths is in recognition of pattern, is tthere a pattern in this your series 1, 3, 5, 7, 8?

As a mathematician, won't you rather go with this series, 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 which has a progressive odd numbers pattern?

Answer is 119

23- 7 = 16

47- 23= 24

79- 47= 32

119- 79= 40

Nb: All have difference of 8

Your answer is right, but there is no (clear) sequence between the numbers being added. Better still, express the 'sequence' 1,3,5,7 and 8, mathematically?

For, 1,3,5,7 and 9... we can easily express the sequence as (2n+1). Where 'n' is the term number. Simply put, a progression of odd numbers.. But for your 'sequence'...I can't see the rule to be applied.

verdict: there is a relationship, but no sequence _emphasis on sequence. wink

Loooool... you are just being difficult for no reason na cheesy cheesy haba.

Lets go with pattern as you've suggested

3 x 2 = 6 ... + 1 = 7
4 .... + 2
5 x 4 = 20 ... + 3 = 23
6 ... + 4
7 x 6 = 42 ... + 5 =
8 ....+ 6
9 x 8 = 72 ... + 7 = 79
10 x 9 = 90 ... + 8 = 98

if talking about sequence, 9 is what to be added because from the question, the first digit of the last question is added to the next multiplication, anyway I'm open to correction if wrong. Thanks
If its sequence, then "10 x" is incorrect.

It should have been "11 x"

Going by the progression you started with, it should've been 9x10 = 90 + 9 = 99
