Range rover is the model name while, Land rover is the brand name.

So technically, it is referred to as the Land rover Range rover.

Yep, they were split. Ram is now a separate brand dealing only with trucks, while Dodge and Chrysler are still making regular passenger cars. All under FCA.

As you mentioned Jeep, some folks would ignorantly thing its a generic name for all SUV, forgetting that Jeep is the name of a car brand and not a design. They'll say Honda Jeep, Benz Jeep.

Jeep is name of a brand
Honda is a different brand
Benz is a German brand.

Benz Jeep means two different automobiles.

It isn't quite the case anymore. While Saab is now defunct after going bankrupt, Scania is still thriving and, now a subsidiary of VW group.
