Marcos Alonso believes Diego Costa will return to goal-scoring form against Manchester United next weekend. Chelsea’s main scorer has not netted since the Premier League win at West Ham on March 6 and this is his longest run without a goal since arriving at Stamford Bridge in 2014.

But Alonso believes Costa is a ‘big game player’ and will be capable of making his mark when it counts.

“Diego has been massive for Chelsea this season,” Alonso told the Standard.

“He has almost scored 20 [current tally is 18] goals and that is a significant contribution.
