Good Friday Or The Celebration Of A Blood Lust? by johnydon22(m): 10:50am On Apr 14, 2017
All across the globe in accordance with the liturgical calendar of the catholic church, today is being celebrated as a good friday, a day to remember the death and suffering of Jesus who is said was sacrificed to redeem man, therefore due to the redemptive value of this event even though heinous and appalling the day is regarded as good.

in the easter exultet of the catholic church, a reference to this day and the core essence of it's value is recounted in these lines.

"oh happy fault, oh necessary sin of Adam, which gained for us a greater redeemer'

death by the cross is one of the worst ways to die, the capital means of punishment for hardened criminal in ancient Rome, the cohorts of the rebellious gladiator Spartacus were all crucified after Rome quelled the rebellion and questioning the sovereignty of Rome was the worst you could do which would eventually earn you the capital execution through crucifixion.

now the process of crucifixion is one that will forever be counted as one of the most horrifying ways to die, crucifixion was designed to bring slow and painful death.

those nailed to a cross do not die within the span of a couple of hours, it takes days and at worst cases more than a week for a crucified person to die. basically they are killed by;

-bleeding
-pain
-difficulty in breathing due to the position on the cross
-hunger
-thirst
-crows feasting on you even when you are still breathing
-exposure to the harshness of the sun

and many more, all these combine together contributes greatly to horrifying experience and eventually death that the cross brings.

Now the very essence and core doctrine of Christianity orbits one of such events, the crucifixion of Jesus.

it is not only appalling that the characteristics of the God Yahweh as painted in the Jewish scriptures depicts a god that has a thirst for bloody sacrifices, the very idea that blood can be used in exchange for atonement goes deeper than the Jewish religion of the Iron age, many ancient religions of these times adopts this.

The lust of god for blood is questionable to it's character then in order for this to stop the doctrine of christianity goes a step further, there must be an ultimate sacrifice, the height of this sacrifice that can attorn for every other sacrifices that may be necessary, a climax of every sacrifice that will erase the debt of blood that are necessary for the attornment of the incessant transgressions of mankind.

the blood that can pay this debt must be special, it must be in some way almost unhuman; yes the character of Jesus evolved through gospel from the status of a special man conceived without natural means as portrayed in matthew, mark and luke to the statue of God by the time we delve into the gospel of John.

through out the epistles penned down by Paul and some other authors that so many times impersonated Paul, there are also different perspectives of the figure jesus. ranging from just a man to a divine status of God himself.

it was this ultimate blood that was necessary for the attornment and therefore finally quench the insatiable thirst for blood that God requires.

Touching story and motif that is but you cannot help but wonder.

- What is so lovable about blood and pain?

-what is the essence and logic behind the need and lust for blood by a transcendent being?

-God lacks the ability to let go without the requirement of blood?

-what sort of being would require torture, ruin and blood in order to be appeased?

- is the requirement of blood and pain an act of Love?

certainly not.

John 3:16 " For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son"

God did not love the world enough to just forgive the world without the requirement of torture, God did not love the world enough to simply put a stop to his need for blood without having his son tortured and murdered.

God gave his son to sacrifice himself to him that is God so that he [God] can forgive mankind.

it may be an act of love on the part of the victim to give himself up for others but it is not an act of love to require blood and torture in order to forgive a transgression - it is twisted and barbaric.

What makes this tale interesting is that, God require this sacrifice, so he could have easily not need it, he could easily just forgive without the blood part because love.

Can God forgive mankind without blood?
was he willing to?

then why didnt he?

for the fact that God must require the torture and bloody death of jesus in order to be appeased makes one of these statements the truth.

-he is unable to forgive without requiring blood
-or he is unwilling to forgive without blood.

This is not a celebration of Love and beauty, not mankind being redeemed but rather the overlooking of a disturbing blood lust in the character that God has become.

it is a celebration of unnecessary torture, a gross reverence of crass abhorrence.

Like the worshippers of Khalima would celebrate the bloody sacrifice of a human at the alter of khali, most would condemn it and go right ahead and celebrate the torture and bloody death of Jesus as a means of salvation.

There is no difference in these practices, both revere and celebrate the blood lust of a deity and the bloody sacrifice of a human to appease these deities.

it is a relic of a barbaric past, unworthy of reverence and a disturbing tale that should prick the mind of anyone basically humane or averagely reasonable.

God requires blood in order to forgive instead of just forgive, for the fact that this forgiveness could be giving without the insertion of bloody sacrifices contradicts the exultet in all it's essence.

It was not a necessary death but a rather unnecessary one that betrays the disturbing characters that we can in our subjective beliefs and practices ignore and revere.

A so so loving God that would give his only "begotten" son to be brutally tortured and killed so he can appease himself and forgive himself?
A so so loving God that would forgive your sins because he is almighty, all powerful and cannot be questioned by no power?

Which would the true loving God be? Which is your Yahweh? Do you see the stupid?
