Despite that, there is an economic recession in the country, lots of people are already planning on how to celebrate this Easter season. Though, some people would be at home to celebrate with their family and loved ones. However, those willing to step out of their comfort zone to celebrate this Easter are now searching for the best destination where they would have the best moment.

Absolutely one of such destinations fun seekers should turn to this Easter is Enugu. The coal city-state, Enugu which literally means “Hill Top” is indeed a tourist havens. 042 as some will call it is one of the most beautiful and peaceful states in Nigeria with lots of tourist attractions such as waterfall, caves, hills, beautiful landscape, beach and a conducive atmosphere ideal for relaxation and recreation.

Why Enugu?

One may ask why Enugu. Below are some of the reasons why you should visit Enugu this Easter

Enugu is Tourist Haven

Enugu is definitely a tourist haven. The state has a whole heap of tourist attractions that are capable of attracting tourists from within and outside Nigeria. Most of these attractions can be accessed free of charge.

The attractions range from Natural attractions (Awhum waterfalls, caves, beach, hills, springs, forest reserve etc.) to man-made (Polo Park etc.). There is also a museum, galleries, monumental or archaeological collections, the famous Ezeagu tourist complex and much more.

Affordable Accommodation

One of the major things every tourist considers before leaving home is where to stay (accommodation). The coal city-state has plenty of affordable quality hotels. Almost all the hotels are budget-friendly. You don’t need to break the bank to visit Enugu. Don’t be surprised you can book a hotel for as low as NGN 3,000 – N4,000. Enugu is certainly one of the inexpensive states to explore in Nigeria.

Inexpensive Public Transportation

Whichever means of transportation you choose be it air or road transportation, they are inexpensive. A flight from Lagos (Murtala Muhammad Airport) to Enugu (Akanu Ibiam International Airport) is 16,650 Via Arik Air (One Way)

However, transportation fares within the city are inexpensive. You can hire a cab to tour around the city for as low as NGN 2,000 – 3000. You can choose to go like a local by using the other public transportation options like the popular coal city shuttle just like the Lagos BRT, KeKe-na-Pepe (Tricycle) the most popular and buses. I would recommend you take the public transport options because it is cheaper and affordable.

Tasty Meals

When it comes to a gastronomic endowment, Owerri is known for Ofe Owerri while Enugu is a home of night-time delicacies such as Nkwobi, Isiewu, Abacha, Ugba and pepper soup. The meals are good quality and affordable. You don’t need to spend much with NGN 500 you can have your favourite local meal.

The popular street food called Okpa sells for as low as NGN 50 per wrap. Your visit to Enugu is incomplete without tasting any of the local meals. Just ask anybody to take you to the best restaurant in town. Even if you are on a tight budget, you can afford the local meals. Sometimes, local foods taste better than a luxury hotel food.

Enugu is undoubtedly the most inexpensive city to explore. Where would you spend your Easter holiday?
