Tragedy struck in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital when a 25-year old vulcanizer, Sulaimon Yakubu died after a bullet hit him after an Accidental Discharge.

However, the people of Ago Ayekale in Ilorin South Local Government area of Kwara State has called on the authorities to ensure justice is done over the killing of the innocent vulcanizer who was said to have refused to offer bribe. The Police Admitted to the killing of the Vulcanizer But insisted the area is notorious for cultism.

Ago Ayekale In Ilorin South Local Government is said to be a quiet community with little infrastructure and few settlement. It was reported that the Kwara State Command of Nigeria Police Force has in recent times arrested inhabitants on the basis of looking for cultists. This has been on going on until the recent incident that claimed the live of the 25-year old about to wed vulcanizer. The residents of the said community who are mainly farmers and petty traders reported that the late vulcanizer was shot by the patrol team by their refusal to bribe them.

The residents in the community said the police team came as usual to round up the boys in the area with the intent of collecting money for bail later at the station. The villagers resisted which angered the police team which in turn resorted to shooting sporadically to scare away the villagers with the late vulcanizer getting hit by a bullet. The sum of 35,000 naira was said to have been collected by the police for bail two weeks earlier when nine boys were arrested and accused of being cult members.

During an interview with the Magaji of Ago Ayekale who spoke in Yoruba, said, the services of a lawyer has been secured and the death of the vulcanizer would not go unpunished. His death would not be vain, he stated
