Reading the story of the fall of man, I am left confused because I cant really understand something

The bible says God cannot lie. God told Adam & Eve that the day they eat the forbidden fruit they will die. The devil told them (Adam & Eve) they will not die but become wise?

My question is
Didn't God lie & wasnt the devil telling the truth because their eyes were open after eating the fruit?

There is nothing confussing here, God was talking about spiritual dead disconnection of man from him, not dying physically.

God was reffering to physical death, because man was made to be immortal, but after they disobeyed him, what happened? didnt they die along the line? they actualy brought death upon man. remember Hell was never created for man, meaning Man was immortal because death had no business with man.

Genesis 2:16-17
16 And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:
17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

Genesis 3:22
22 And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever.

There were two trees:
1) Tree of life
2) Tree of knowledge

How can a tree whose fruit bestows knowledge or eternal life cause one to die?
Is it not ignorance that kills as written in the bible?

Satan told Adam that eating from the tree of knowledge will make him (Adam) wise, which was not a lie anyway.
Only that Adam was so engrossed with his new found wisdom, to pick and eat from the tree of life before he was chased out of Edin.

Imagine Adam at that level of perfection endowed with wisdom and eternal life, how would man be like today?

Even with mortality, the world is still overpopulated, you can imagine what it would be with immortality.

No offence but if God was talking about spiritual death, why would he drive Adam & Eve out of the Garden before the could eat the Tree of Life. Is it not the Tree of Life that would have made them immortal?

No problem....
They, after eating of the fruit from the tree, immediately became imperfect.
They could not dwell in a perfect place (The Garden of Eden).
They disobeyed a strict commandment.
Things would've flowed smoothly had they obeyed.
I would not say that that tree was to keep them alive. They were already perfect. God was keeping them alive...

The answer is obvious but I like the way Africans perform Intellectual gymnastics to defend the jew god. If our ancestors had put half the effort to defend their religions, Their children would have been saving 10 percent of their salaries now.
