Genesis 1:1-3
"In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, Let there be light: and there was light."
Psalms 119:130
"The entrance of thy words giveth light..."

For a long time, the earth was plunged in thick darkness. One faithful day, God spoke out with faith and power: "Let there be light." And divine electricity flowed from heaven producing light.
The very first time God spoke in the Bible, light was produced. So God's words primarily bring light into our lives and situations.

The major role God's Word has to play in our life, is to illuminate our lives. This is why the more you read the Word, the more the light of God shines in and on your life; the more you shine to God's glory.

What does light do? It exposes, it manifests, it advertises, etc.

Ephesians 5:13
"...for whatsoever doth make manifest is light."
The purpose of darkness, however is to conceal or hide. The gross darkness concealed the earth and made it invisible until God spoke light into being.
So the light of God's word brings you into publicity, limelight, recognition, fame, etc. It turns you into a celebrity as your destiny is manifested to the world for the world to see.

Matthew 5:16
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
What makes a person to shine? God's Word! The Word of God illuminates your destiny to the appreciation of men, who will give thanks to God for your life. The more of God's Word in your life, the more you shine!

If there is one thing satan fights so desperately in our lives; it is our light. If the enemy can quench your light, he has extinguished your destiny. No matter how gifted or talented a person may be, without light, that person will be unknown to majority.

That's why Jesus said-Let Your light so "SO SHINE" In order words, let your light shine extremely well. They are levels and degrees of light, which is why people are celebrated in different levels and degrees.

Apart from illuminating the dark earth, when God spoke in Genesis 1, darkness was overcome or defeated by the light of God's spoken Word.
Darkness symbolises the devil, his angels, his demons and his human agents. This is why they are commonly called kingdom of darkness, powers of darkness, etc. Apart from operating actively in the darkness of night, they control the destinies of billions of people under the secretive cover of darkness.

The earth was in control of darkness, until God spoke and light flooded the earth. So the more of God's Word in your life, the more light and less darkness in your life; the less control the powers of destiny have over your destiny.
This is why the more of God's light in your life through His Word, the more you triumph over spiritual darkness.
You more you prosper, excel, progress, succeed, etc. Victory over and deliverance from the kingdom of darkness comes quicker when the light of God's Word increases in us.

We can now see why satan and demons hate us reading the bible. I laughed when a pastor said some people who are restless, use God's Word to sleep at night, because they know once they start reading the Word, sleep comes.

When we read the Word of God, light comes into our life, overcoming spiritual darkness, illuminating our lives and bringing us into limelight.

Darkness is as necessary as light but there has to be balance.
