structural unempolyement . it is defined as unemployment arising from technical change such as automation, or from changes in the composition of output due to variations in the types of products people demand. For example, a decline in the demand for typewriters would lead to structurally unemployed workers inthe typewriter industry.basically there is decline in civil engineering job |

Re: Hot Sit...economists Pls Help by Nobody: 10:49pm On Apr 24, 2017 |
vaxx: To the best of my knowledge, frictional unemployment can occur under three circumstances namely 1) A graduate who appears unemployed because he just finished his university education 2) Someone who is umemployed because he was sacked in his former place of work 3) Anyone who leaves his former job in search for a better one. If anyone falls under these conditions then s/he is said to be unemployed frictionally. The answer to the question the OP asked can be seen in cased three. You chosed Structural unemployment, but sincerely you are wrong because structural unemployment talks about the change in the structural composition of an industry. For example, the case of structural unemployment is said to have occurred when there is redundancy in the 'video cassette ' industry as a result of introduction of DVD player. Yeah, Frictional unemployment do with movement but structural unemployment is concerned with change of taste. Phew.....thanks 1 Like |

I'm an undergraduate of Agricultural Economics. This situation is called 'underemployment' simply because the engineer is offering services below his expertise arising from the unavailability of gainful employment. Well, I don't know if another term for 'underemployment' is 'disguised employment' as pointed out by the Economics teacher above me (with eight years teaching experience). If he's correct about 'underemployment' being same as 'disguised employment', then the answer is UNARGUABLY 'DISGUISED EMPLOYMENT'. |

One of the major problems of the present educational system is over-reliance on teachers by the students.Students hardly consult textbooks or go online for research. I'm highly surprised that someone who offered econ in sec sch will find this simple question difficult. most students are just like ' let me just pass the exam and go my way'. the real knowledge is lost.people don't read academic textbooks nowadays. EPL, music,Betnaija, nairaland, etc has replaced the place of diligent research in most schools. |
