@Dr Cynthia, I went for a pelvic scan due to irregular and very scanty menstrual periods. The scan report says bulky uterus of AP=46mm in diameter, retained products. Please doctor what can I do about this as I'm trying to conceive. |

hajiaaishah:Well, let's take it one after another. Problems. 1. Irregular and scanty menstrual period from ur history 2. Bulky uterus with retained products (did u have a recent pregnancy loss) 3. Trying to conceive. Solution. 1st I will advice u go to a hospital. Maybe a General Hospital or teaching hospital around u (reason being that u will find a specialist there) for proper health consultation. 2nd while u r there, u Wld see a gynecologist who Wld take a look at ur scan and maybe order for a repeat scan and know the appropriate measure to take in emptying the uterus if nessesary. 3rd After which u will be properly investigated for the cause of infertily and appropriate measures taken to help u conceive. Hope this helps. 1 Like |

Babe, it is most unlikely that the bulk seen in your uterus is retained product from your 2-3yrs ago miscarriage. I will suggest you see a specialist, maybe there's a recent mis-miscarriage you didn't even notice. I wish you a quick launch to motherhood dearie...may God bless you with beautiful and healthy babies. 2 Likes |

My question now is that is it advisable to go for the evacuation stuff as suggested by the sonographer |

hajiaaishah:See a specialist and get examined, not a sonographer. Tcare |

Waladade4luv:It's well explained, viability= the quality, morphology = particular form, shape, or structure, viscosity=the state of being thick, sticky, and semi-fluid in consistency etc. Well, from the result u posted, most of the parameters and below the lower limit of normal. The range d lab used is more or less correct. Normal limits are Color- Grayish white. pH- 7.3-7.8 . Volume- 2.0-5.0 ml. Sperm count- 20-250 million/ml. Motility >60% motile <3 hours after specimen is obtained. % Normal sperm >60%. Viscosity -Can be poured from a pipet in droplets rather than a thick strand. From the result u posted, I think the patient has Low sperm count. It is a condition called oligospermia This is the term used to describe the condition when the sperm count is low, less than 15 million sperm/ml. I'd suggest u meet a specialist to know the next step to take. |
