One major thing that characterized the lives of the apostles of the Lord Jesus Christ was that they learnt the ways of the Lord. When Jesus called the disciples in Mark 3, The Bible tells us that, “He called them that they should be with him and that He might send them forth to preach.”

When Jesus called the disciples, His first goal for them was not to go and preach but that they should be with Him. The dictionary provides the core meaning of “should” as a modal verb indicating that something is the right thing for somebody to do. Jesus called them to be with Him to learn His ways and only then would they be able to do greater works than He did (John 14:12).

The plan of God for His disciples and for all His children is to do the works that Jesus did and exceed them with greater works. God ordained a good life for you, and this good life will only come if you take the paths He prearranged for you from eternity, and do your preordained good works (Ephesians 2:10 Amplified). You will travel your prearranged road effectively when you learn the ways of the Lord. The disciples of the Lord learnt the ways of the Lord well, and you could see the results in their lives and ministries.

PRAYER: Lord, teach me your ways as I seek Your face daily in the study of Your word. That I may know You and the power of Your resurrection in Jesus’ name. Amen..
