A woman was burnt to death in a tanker accident in Ibadan, Oyo State, on Wednesday.

Three vehicles and three buildings were also razed by the inferno.

The accident occurred around 11:30 a.m. at Eleyele area of the city when the tanker, filled with 33,000 litres of diesel detached from the vehicle while ascending a hill.

An eyewitness, Lekan Durosaro, said the tanker rolled over a Nissan Almera car which was coming behind it and caught fire immediately.
The intensity of the fire made it difficult for rescue team deployed to the scene of the accident, to save the woman who was trapped in the car.
The rescue team including policemen, men of the Department of State Security Services (DSS), Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Federal Road Safety Corp (FRSC) and personnel from the state fire service tried to identify the woman or any other thing that could reveal her identity.
Sympathizers wailed as her body was pulled out from the wreckage by rescuers.
The driver of the truck who was said to be a very young man and the motor boy fled the scene for fear of being lynched by angry mob.
Before fire fighters arrived the scene, three buildings including a church, Save and Serve Ministries, were affected.
