Today marks the 49th Anniversary of the Liberation of Okrika Island from the claws of the Biafran soldiers by the Federal Troops.
Let us thank the Almighty God for the Liberation from captivity into freedom. Long Live Okrika, Long Live Rivers State, Long Live
Nigerian Okrika! strong and brave people. Resilient and ebullient altogether. Peaceful, yet determined lots. Spiritual and religious entity.
A people of very high taste and fancy. Literate and highly educated people. Natural leaders in every endeavor. The home of music and fine singers. Okrika; a people you cannot ignore! I am proud of this enviable heritage.
And so I celebrate the 49th year of our Wakirike liberation. Long live Okrika! The land of our birth.
